The cross-dressing comedy Connie and Carla comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the movie's original theatrical aspect ratio. English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1, while a French soundtrack has also been recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1. French and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by director Michael Lembeck and star/screenwriter Nia Vardalos. Their conversation is exceedingly light and trivial, although those who are charmed by Vardalos will easily find it as amusing as they will find the film. Extended versions of the movie's production numbers, outtakes, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and a short documentary on Debbie Reynolds round out the extras on this disc. This is a fine DVD for what it is, but the same extras are available on a different disc that also boasts a widescreen transfer of the film. That disc is preferable to this one.
