My kids love their leapsters and their friends love them too. My kids keep theirs in the van a lot so they can play to and from school or other activities. When their friends get into the van, they play too. They get so excited and they're learning at the same time too. Well worth the money. Plus the game cartridges vary according to age and skill levels. It grows with my kids and will continue to do so further into elementary school. Mine have ha theirs for 2 years now and still going strong! Thanks Leap Frog!!
This item is a great gift for any child. It helps them learn in a fun way, and parents don't have to worry about the content of the game. So it is a win/win for both parent and child. My daughter loves her Leapster, she tries to take it everywhere she goes. lol Highly recommend getting the base charger definitely helps save on the cost of batteries.
I purchased 6 Leapfrog Leapsters when I first began teaching Title I Math to at-risk students who were having difficulty understanding math in a traditional setting. This product has had an amazing impact on my students enthusiasm about Math. When I first purchased them, I used them daily as a 'center'. Now, since they are wearing out, I use them as a weekly incentive for the students......they still choose the Leapsters over any other program I offer.
My 3 year old daughter got this for Christmas along wit a few games and she LOVES it!! She can do it easily and its entertaing and very educational. great toy to buy!
This product meet every expectation and then some, it was well worth the money, very educational. I much rather buy this instead of a game system. My little sister love to play with it shes 5.
We purchased 2 Leapfrog Leapsters, a green one for our 7yr old Autistic son and pink unit for our 9yr old daughter. Along with them we also purchased 8 different learning softwear disks. Best gifts we could have EVER given them for Christmas. Our son loves to do the math and spelling games, which for anyone who has experience with Autism knows, is almost impossible to do with paper and a pencil. He plays with it until the batteries run dead and still wants more. It has made him "want" to learn to read and spell. Great educational tool! Our daughter also loves the math and grammer games. They even prefer to play the Leapsters over watching TV! They take the games with them in the car and where ever else they may go. Too bad the battery run time is only about 3.5 hours. But they are awesome learning tools for anyone who has children under the age of 10. I would seriously also recommend it to those who may have a "special-needs" child. I'd also recommend buying re-chargable AA batteries.
I bought my little 5 year old this game learning toy and she loves it. I did read past reviews prior to buying and I do recommend getting high-end batteries. My little one has been playing the on-board games along with the 2 additional games I got her non-stop. The high-end batteries lasted at least 3 weeks. Also recommend, to save on battery life, you really need to buy the 9V wall plug-in and the head set. Both you and your little one can enjoy the game quitely.
I bought my 3 year old granddaughter one and she played with it everyday until she wore it out and I had to buy her another one for her 4th birthday.
I bought this for my daughter last year when she was 3. Her big brother got a DS Lite so we decided this would be more age approprite for her. I read all the reviews from lots of diffrent web sites. I felt like it was worth the risk I would take, it seemed like it was mostly a good toy with some people getting a dud here and there. She loves it and loves the games we got for it. A few months ago the screen went black and I thought, here it goes we got one of the duds. My husband messed with it a little and realized that my daughter actually ended up turing the screen brightness all the way down. I was glad to know it just didn't quit working like that. After a year or so of playing with it the screen was not responding to the pen in certin areas, like the middle of it. I read how to calibrate the screen and tried that thinking that would fix the problem. To calibrate the screen you go to the home screen with out the cartridge and press the home, hint and B button all at the same time then press A and start calibrating. To are supposed to touch the pen in the center of the circles that appear on the screen. This worked fine on the circles that appeared in all four corners, but when the last circle appeared in the center I got no response. I e-mailed Leapster and am now waiting for a response. My daughter still plays with it but gets VERY frustrated when it dosen't work right. I would recommend this product if you are ok with maybe having to replace it someday.
MY DAUGHTER GOT THIS HANDHELD FOR X-MAS WITH A COUPLE OF GAMES. SHE HAS PLAYED WITH IT FOR THREE WEEKS! BUT NOW ALL WE SEE IS A BLACK SCREEN SO WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE WAL-MART AND THEY TOLD US THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEM IN STOCK! MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN CRYING FOR US TO GET IT BACK! IT IS A VERY EDUCATIONAL GAME BUT IT'S NOT GOOD THAT THE SCREEN GOES BLACK AFTER ONLY HAVING IT FOR THREE WEEKS! I M DISAPPOINTED IN THE PRODUCT AND HOPEFULLY NO ONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH!
