This phone is great! It's not to big and not to small but average. It has all the great features that you'll need and the camera is amazing. I would recommend this phone for everyone that wants a reliable smart phone that comes with all the bell and whistles.
My 22 yr old son has one of the larger screen Galaxies, but the Alpha is slim and fits my hands and in my opinion is better than his S version. As far as I can tell, my Alpha has and does all the things his does, but more compactly. I LOVE the thing, long story short, and I've had iPhones that just don't compare.
I really like the size of the Alpha. Newer generations of cell phones are getting too large for my taste. I understand desire to have larger screen but I really don't want to carry a small tablet! Yet still like a smart phone and need a screen large enough to read email, etc. This phone is a good compromise.
From the design to the software experience is very satisfying and worth the money in my opinion. The premium feel of this phone is unlike any other phone I've felt so far. I've never had any problems with it so far except the battery which gives me about 4 hours of on screen time besides the power saving and ultra power saving which gives me 5 hours. Other than that this phone is a great daily driver and I plan on sticking with the Alpha for a long time until the Alpha 2 comes out.
This Galaxy Alpha has become my first and best phone. I have had experiences with older Samsung phones, so I know quite a bit of how far Samsung has come. The design is spectacular, something that has not been seen, and it definitely is better. So far, I have had this phone for 2 weeks, and it has not frozen, not once. The internal memory of 32 GB keeps this phone running super smooth. Not to mention the octa-core performance, where the real games can be played with ease. 5 out of 5 stars for this spectacular phone. I have recommended it to 5 of my friends already.
After 7 years on an iPhone, this one made me switch. It's lighter, smaller and has a much better display. Did I mention it's also fast? Build quality is solid and it feels like it's honed from a solid block of metal but with no real weight. Everything seems to be much better than my outgoing iPhone except the finger print sensor and it's probably just not being used to the finger swipe vs. the iPhone's finger place interface. The only thing I'm missing from other Android phones out there is an IR port. Everything else is bullets. Battery life: Good, not great. It's on par with the iPhone 5s Battery life in hours Display: Great! I thought the pixel density was going to be a problem. It's not. On-screen keyboard: Much better than the iPhone or other, older androids that I've used over the years. Charging: Fast! You can go from 1/2 to full in 45 minutes with the included charger. Speaker: Good, not great. It's no beats but it's a solid sound. Wireless / Bluetooth: Great! It's fast to connect and holds a connection to wireless. Cellular is solid as well. Bluetooth is quick and stable to ear pieces and watches.
I had the alpha for over a year. At first it was a replacement phone but I quickly fell in love with it. Right out the box I loved the simple but eye catching build, the metal band was different and refreshing from plastic. It felt good in hand and wasn't bothersome to carry in pockets. The software was nice and fast on top of it. Very nice and reliable phone.
I purchased this phone for my mother-in-law who was upgrading from a Galaxy SII. Due to her aging eyes she needed a fairly large screen without getting into the 5 inch and larger phones. The 4.7 inch screen worked great. The best part of the phone is the "easy" setting that allowed me to set the phone up for her and remove apps and other items that would have confused her even more. After using the phone for a few days, she is extremely happy with the phone both function and performance. The display is outstanding, it's quick, no lag at all, pictures are pretty good (limited use so far). Overall, I'm impressed with the phone. It's a 10 for her!
color is so clear, has more ram then my old iphone ,love the things you can do with video and photos.
I love the size of this phone. It's streamline design fits in your hand perfectly. I like some of the functions, including the brightness. It allows me to see the screen while in the sun and outside with my sunglasses on. The voice option for searching is wonderful as well.
