Place in a flat area of your yard to minimize ground preparation. Choose a level location for the equipment. This can reduce the likelihood of the play set tipping over and loose-fill surfacing material washing away during heavy rains. Place the equipment not less than 6' from any structure or obstruction such as a fence, garage, house, overhanging branches, laundry lines or electrical wires. Provide enough room so that the children can use the equipment safely. For example, for structures with multiple play activities, a slide should not exit in front of a swing. It is a good idea to place your Playcenter in an area that is convenient for adults to watch children at play. Do not build your playset on top of surfacing material. Locate bare metal platforms and slides out of direct sunlight to reduce the likelihood of serious burns. A slide that faces north will receive the least direct sunlight. Separate active and quiet activities from each other. For example, locate sandboxes away from swings or use a guardrail or barrier to separate the sandbox from the movement of the swings. We bought this for our 2 year old daughter to use now and grow into. It took my husband and dad 2 full days to complete setup. A lot longer than we were expecting, but completely worth it! They put stone pavers underneath the wood for more stability and easy mow/trim around. My dad put in a custom wood floor in the playhouse portion because we do not intend to use it as a sandbox. Our daughter has so much fun on it already and could not wait to start swinging! We look forward to many years of fun with this swing set!
Took my husband and I 10 hours to put together!! Please be sure to sort out all parts first, it definitely expedited the process!! And there was no missing or damaged pieces!! Overall, We are 100% happy with this purchase!! Our 5 and 1 yr olds love it! They can't stay off of it!! Great size too!!
We are very pleased with our purchase. For the price you pay, you get a nice playset! The wood is a little soft, but it seems durable. When we picked up the set, one box had obviously been opened and taped back up so we were very skeptical about bring it home, but it was only missing one small piece and one piece had been broken. After calling the company, they shipped out the pieces immediately with no problems. (Thakfully these small pieces had nothing to do with the structure and we could continue to build the set.) The instructions were pretty clear and my husband and I were able to put it together in just 3 evenings.
Bought this for my daughters birthday. Took my husband and a friend about 9 hours to put up. I highly recommend making sure all parts are there when you start. We did have to go to the hardware store for a few bolts. Be prepared to drill a lot of holes because some of the boards didn't come predrilled. The ankers that come with it keep the swing set in place even with 4 kids swinging at once. My husband can even stand on the platform with no bowing and creaking. It's a great set for the price!!!
This is a good swingset for the price. We bought it on sale for my sons birthday. It took about 7 hours to assemble with 3 men working on it. The directions can be tricky but if you get all the parts organized and spread out it seemed to flow pretty smoothly. Only a couple times did something get put in wrong place. One thing I wish I would've noticed about this model (Sonora) is that the clubhouse door is underneath the slide and doesn't open all the way. We had to raise the bottom of the slide up. I would recommend this product.
My wife and I put this together in about a day. The directions are very easy to read, but make sure you have the right tools which makes the job much easier. I don't get home until around 6:30 so we started putting some of it together on a Thursday night, and some more on Friday night. Saturday morning we took the assembled monkey bar, swing piece and the base we had put together in our garage the previous couple of nights. We started working outside around 1 pm and were finished around 5 or 6 (but we did take some minor breaks in between to look after our 3 kids). Overall the product is very nice, it was easy to put together, and the price was considerably less than similar swingsets we have looked at. Looking forward to having our kids enjoy this for many years.
My husband and I wanted to buy our daughter (who was 2 at the time) a swing set but we couldn't decide which one to buy. Plus, the majority of them were out of our price range. That is until we found this one. We were able to get it on sale, for much less, but I have never seen it that cheap again. However, even at full price it is worth the money because this is one of the only sets I have seen that include monkey bars. Most swing sets that include monkey bars are much more expensive than this. While, we are happy with the set there are a few things that I think need to be mentioned. 1. Set up will take you about 2 days (as long as you have at least one other person helping you) and that is with someone who is very good with tools. 2. The quality of the wood is OK but I expected better, especially for the price they are charging now. 3. I would highly recommend you stain the swing set after you set it up because even though the manufacturer stained it prior to you purchasing it, it isn't that great of a job. I called Backyard Discovery and was told NOT to use Thompson Watersealer because it doesn't work well with this product (or any Backyard discovery wood product, which is good to know since we also have a picnic table from them made out of the same wood as the swingset) I was told to buy either the Lowes or Home Depot brand and it will work just fine. This is on our list of things to do, if we ever find time and if it ever stops raining. This is the best picture I can find, though we have added playground mulch since then so it looks even better but Either way, Good Luck!
This swing set is the perfect swing set for a lower budget if you "want it all". All my 5 year old daughter wanted was monkey bars and this was the best set anywhere for the money. I wish I had an extra few hundred to spend so I could have got a slightly bigger set, but for our budget this was perfect. She is very pleased with the buy. The wood was either really hard or really soft so we had to re-drill some of the pilot holes for the huge screws because the drill couldn't get them to go in very well. Some of the smaller wood screws went through the wood easily, it was kind of hit or miss, so just be careful. I didn't feel completely comfortable putting all my weight #170# on the structure, although it held me fine, but it's fine for children. We bought a trapeze bar separately to replace one of the swings so my daughter had more activities to do. We had to use a trailer to get it home from site to store because the boxes are very long, about 8 feet, as that's the length of the slide. it came in two boxes, they came to the store one day apart but before the estimated time of arrival. So I was pleased with that. The only thing I did wrong was put the clubhouse door on backwards. So I haven't got the slide on yet #see pic# because the door swings out and won't open with the slide on it. So once I make the door swing inward I'll be able to add that. I don't know if I really like that it swings inward, but oh well. My daughter was very excited and loves playing on it. The directions don't say to have a wrench but you will need one to tighten the bolts. a ratcheting one is best as there's some small spots to turn inside. We had to use the provided allen wrenches to tighten all the bolts really good, which was a pain but came in handy. I basically put the whole thing together myself as my husband was helping watch the baby #I'm the handyman in our home!#. He helped me hold large pieces, and my mom came over and helped one day when he was at work. I finished it in about 12 hours the first day with a few small breaks for meals, and about 5 hours the next day. If I had an adult helper continuously we would have had it done the first day, no doubt! But since I did most single handedly it did take longer. Make sure you have some sealant as it is not pre-sealed, only stained. If I could go back I would have done that first before assembling the thing, but it rained every day except the two days I was able to put it together, so I just had to get it up to beat the weather or else it would have never been assembled.
This swingset will fulfill it's purpose. Not made neat as durably as it could be. Very cheap/soft wood. Package was missing a board and several bolts. My husband had to drill several of his own holes and there was major splinting and cracking of the wood, some it coming like that. Then to have to stop what he was doing to run to the hardware store and replace what should of ready been in there was frustrating. Several bolts didn't fit correctly and should of been bigger and more resilient . Our daughter does enjoy it; however she is three and doesn't know quality vs cheap entertainment. Prepare to spend about 18 hours give or take. This was with two men doing the job.
Overall, I am pretty pleased with this swing set. It has a big footprint, and my kids love playing on it. However, set up was a little bit of a pain due to the fact that the instruction manual does not do a good job with details in a few sections, which left me and my friends disassembling some things to re-assemble it correctly. Make sure you take a day before assembly to inventory the wood and accessories; a lot of the wood panels are very small and somewhat fragile, so I had about 5 boards that were damaged right out of the box, but the company is very easy to deal with on those issues. They provide you with a 1-800 number to call, which we did, and they sent the boards out through Fed Ex, no questions asked. Overall, I'd say it is a good value, but you should definitely seal it with some kind of wood sealer to protect it from the elements.
