I have been very happy with this desk. It is nice quality - from the Sauder company. A piece was damaged and I called Sauder directly and they sent a replacement the next day at no cost. It is a true white color, not bright white, but definitely white. The cubby shelf on top can't be removed but the inserts along the middle of it can so that you can have a wider continuous space underneath. The exact dimensions of the desk are on the box. Total height is 34.25". The height of the desk without the cubby shelf is 30.25". The depth of the shelf is 7.5".
Packing was good. No broken, scratched or bent pieces. But be careful, package IS HeavY! After sorting out the pieces of the desk and reading the directions it was somewhat simple to put together. However pay close attention to the directions and orientation of the pieces. On one page a piece to the desk may be one direction, but on the next page will be oriented in the opposite direction. Prepare to take several hours to put this together and read and re-read the directions and read the directions again as you are putting the desk together. Use some fast drying wood glue on the top of the dividers to glue down the top shelf, that way it won't vibrate, jump up and down or rattle. The desk once together is good, the wide top drawer is not a desk drawer but rather a keyboard drawer where the front flips down to access a keyboard. I was somewhat dissapointed in that I thought it was a real drawer. Also if you have wood floors in your home, get felt pads for the bottom of the desk to not mar up the floor finish. Good overall value. Primarily made of fiber board and particle board.
Added much needed work/storage space, at the same time fit perfectly into the limited space I had as well as the decor of the room. The keyboard tray was always a must, the pull out drawer a plus, and I really needed the letter sized hanging file drawer it came with. The raised hutch that spans the length of the desk is also perfect for my dual 22 inch monitors. My only issue was that not all the parts were marked as per instructions, which made putting some of the pieces together a bit of guess work and trial and error (especially the drawers).
This is a great desk, lots of storage space. Although the instructions and illustrations were excellent, not all parts were labeled. I found it simplified assembly to inventory and label all parts before starting to put it together. Assembly was time-consuming but instructions were very clear. I am a 69-year-old female and I was able to do the job myself. The key-board shelf, although not an actual drawer, is large enough to hold a laptop, when not in use, as well as a flat tray of supplies,-- pencils, clips, etc. Desk is large and is suitable for an older child, teen, or adult.
We bought this product for our 10 year old daughter to do her homework on and it is awesome. She loves it! It definetely took a few hours to put together...must follow directions closely. But it all went together very well and all drawers and everything work great! I definetely recomend this product!!!!!
I am impressed with the look of the desk once it is built. I thought it was easy to assemble, I put it together by myself. It took me about an hour and a half to build it. It is very sturdy for the the price. I bought it for my 14 year old daughter's room and she just loves it.
This desk is a perfect size for bills, work, minor craft projects, etc. We really like the way it looks. However, it took 3+ hours to assemble! Seriously! It was not complicated, but there were just SO many pieces, it was very tedious. It is good quality for the price, seems nice and sturdy. Whatever you do, don't do the site to store shipping, it was a pain, and took too long. I should have paid the $20 for shipping to my home.
It's an okay desk. For the price I thought it would be better. Assembly is miserably difficult. It took three people and two days to get it right. The paint is already chipping in some spots after six months, but it's white so it's easy to refinish. Also you will need a palm rest for the keyboard drawer because the screws are right up against your wrist. All in all it looks attractive after everything is done. The online photo is exactly what it looks like in person, so no surprises.
Only buy this desk if you are very savvy at assembling things with many, many pieces and not very clear instructions. The final product is nice, but, the corner of the desk was slightly damaged during shipping. I wish I had just bought a desk that was already assembled.
I was very disappointed in the product. The first shipment came quickly but had two damaged pieces. They were replaced quickly but the drawer board is so thin that we then broke some pieces trying to put them together. The final product was good when finally complete. They need to make some pieces sturdier and package better for shipping. I will say that they replaced all damaged pieces quickly and without question by ordering on their website.
