This phone is perfect out of the box for Google Project Fi.
First things first. Forget about the talk from Total Wireless trolls who say it is "carrier locked". It's a Nexus so it is plain Android and there is no carrier lock. Just don't put the TW SIM chip into the phone when you receive it. I'm going with Google's Project Fi for my phone service. Second, it comes with Android 6 but being a 64-bit Nexus ("Google" authorized) phone, it will attempt to upgrade itself to the latest Android OS 8 (Oreo). Had some problems with that one. I tried to back up some of my apps/data from a Samsung tablet to this phone while running Android 6 and when the upgrade to Android 8 began, I found it would crash as soon as Android 8 tried to start up. Thought I had entered the dreaded "boot lock" upgrade problem that many had when upgrading these phones to Android 7! After several failed attempts to boot into Android 8, I finally answered "Yes" to the question about "Do you want to wipe the phone and start fresh" and once I took that path it worked fine. Lost some of my setup info but it booted into Android 8 (Oreo) with no problems. As per the usual, a "clean install" approach usually works out the best when doing major OS upgrades. This phone is FAST even with the older Snapdragon 810 processor. Battery life is good. The display is very bright and crisp because it is OLED (same thing used on the latest Samsung 8s and iPhone X). For $365 you're getting a huge bargain and the phone arrives brand spanking new. Put a Spigen "Rugged Armor" rubber case on it and an iCarez tempered glass cover on the screen and you are good to go. Glad to see this great phone is still in stock as a new in box (non-refurb'ed) item. Probably the best "modern" cell phone deal you are going to find at the moment. The cost of the Google Pixel XL has dropped in price some this month with the "Pixel 2" about to debut but this Nexus 6P is still a heck of a bargain. Love it.
Maybe it's locked with total wireless, but it still works with projectfi
Works great: - Charges are super fast. - No buggy default applications so far. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Would say as one of the best Nexus in the range with an allround performance.
I bought this phone on June 29 2017 from Walmart , through Total Wireless . It was working great , but correct after one year and one month the phone stopped working . It is entered into boot loop state. I tried to fix the issue , but nothing is working. now it is a $450 brick , can be used as a paper weight. See the
I have experienced hands down the absolute worst service I have ever experienced with my Nexus 6p and you should not buy a 6p or any other Huawei phone for that matter. About 2 and a half months ago I began experiencing a problem with my 6p, my charging port stopped working (I knew it was the port because my charger worked on my friends phone but for some reason only his charger worked on my phone even though both chargers were fully functional). Keep in mind, I use only the factory charger for charging my phone so it was not due to using some cheap second rate charger that did not fit right. I emailed Huawei and tried everything they said. Eventually I had to send the phone in to the repair center. When I received the phone back from the repair center I was happy to find out that my charger was once again functional. I was satisfied until I discovered a new problem, they had fixed my charging port and in the process they had broken my microphone. I don't mean it broke a day or two later, I mean directly out of the box the first person I called could not hear a word I said until I put it on speaker phone. I called the company the next day and told them the problem. I was told I would receive an email in the next few days with another shipping label but it never came. I called back again a few days later and asked to speak with a supervisor this time. After a long conversation with him, we decided that it was apparent that the service center was unable to fix my phone and I would receive a replacement. He then told me that I would get an email that Monday with the details. Monday came around and an email did not. I made several more calls to the company and was told each time by either customer service employees or their supervisors that I would be receiving information soon and each time I would receive nothing at all. It has now been well over a month since the first promise of a replacement phone and I am still stuck with a broken phone. I do all of my work on my cell phone and it has now gotten in the way of me completing my work several times. I have now grown to hate this phone because it cannot even perform the one task every phone should be able to do, talk on the phone. The phone has continued to decline in quality regardless of the fact that I take a great deal of care of my phone. Now the battery will die every time the phone reaches 12%. I called the company again today and was once again given the run around. I have never in my life received such poor customer service. It is hands down a deal breaker and the only reason that you should need to not buy not just this phone but any phone or other product sold by Huawei. If I could give this phone 0 stars I would have but unfortunately I cannot. The level of service I have received is absolutely horrendous and I am at a loss of what to do. I paid a premium price for this phone and I expected to receive premium service with it but that is simply not the case. You would be much better off buying a phone by any other company on the market today.
