I had a Gaiam mat for 10 years - it survived a ballet academy, a college dance degree, and finally a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, and I finally had to buy a new mat. I did so much research but ended up coming back to Gaiam. This mat is a little thicker, which I love, and was slippery for a week or so, but I washed it twice and now it is great.
I've been using this mat 3-4 times per week for almost 2 months. Still in love with the lilac color! The mat is soft and cushiony and feels like it molds to my body but does not leave any permanent indentations. It was rather slippery at first, but this improved significantly after use - and I sweat a lot from HIIT/bodyweight workouts. I would definitely repurchase/recommend this.
I'm very happy with this mat! The grip is good and I LOVE the color. The picture of the Chambray mat looked more purple but it's actually more blue but I like it even more!
Very pretty soft color, comfortable with enough cushioning. Sometimes I double it with another yoga mat, for extra cushioning for my 65 yr. old bones.
I use this mat almost every day. It's one of the best and most high quality mats I have used. It's soft and offers a lot of support. But it's also thin enough that I can get my footing and do all kinds of yoga poses. I think this mat would be great for anyone, whether they're a beginner, pro, younger, or older.
I got this during the quarantine so I could workout at home. This is a quality mat, probably one of the best ones I've owned in terms of comfort. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the color is different from the one pictured. What I received is a much lighter purple.
Great mat for the price! Provides lots of support and is such a beautiful color. Only thing is that it is a little slippery when you get more sweaty, but definitely didn't expect anything non-slip at this price. Overall definitely recommend, and can't wait to try a non-slip one when I become a yoga pro!
I bought this recently for my yoga practice, and so far it's been great! I love the color of the mat. I will say that if your hands or feet get sweaty you'll begin to slip a bit, but other than that it's e great beginning mat!
Beautiful color, excellent padding but very poor performance. As other reviewers have mentioned, this mat is very slippery. I'm not a sweaty person, and I use this mat for doing brief 30 minute sessions at home, so I do break into a soft sheen. My palms break into a minor sweat, and I have trouble holding a down dog. I have to constantly re adjust my palms because they keep slipping forward. I hope that the mat's texture improves over time to become less slippery. I even followed the instructions on the packaging to wipe it down with a damp cloth and let air dry completely before first use. Slipped all over the place, even my back foot at one point transitioning from Warrior 3 into Crescent Lunge. Very disappointed in performance out of the box, but hoping with time some of the slipperiness goes away. If it DOES improve, I will revisit to amend my review rating.
I was really excited when i received my mat , but after using it a few times it became very hard to clean . After each session i tried to wipe it down with a yoga mat cleaning solution and a soft towel - but it was very difficult with the texture of the mat, as i couldn't remove anything between the crevices of the dots. Also , i noticed that pieces of the raised dots have been starting to tare - which is crazy as i have had this mat less than a month!
