I bought this Mini for my husband who has Macular Degeneration and is almost blind and it has been the best gadget I could have gotten for him. He asks it for the time and to play music for him, etc, etc.
Gave as a gift because I already have 3 - like them. Small but mighty
Takes very little room on counter. Excellent reception for areas that normal radios won't work in.
I love this thing! It is great for music, news, weather and more. All you need to do is ask it your questions or demands and it listens and responds with great accuracy. It's just like typing in a search on Google, but all you need is your voice! I replaced my Bluetooth speaker, because I didn't need it anymore! The sound is great from the speaker. I am subscribed to Google Play Music and YouTube Premium which I recommend for it, but not needed. Voice learning with the Assistant and control can be used with the Home app. Easy to use, very glad I have it around!
We hade the first generation for years and when it became obsolete, my wife had no one to go to for her questions and support. It was like she lost her friend.

Very good sound, convenient and fun. The only exception being is that if you don't have You tube premium, a lot of tunes are not available. And at times, you ask for a certain song and it gives you another singer.
i have Three Google Nest Mini Gen2 and I bought my first one in 2018. these units should be a lot Smarter by now with Constant Learning, as the units keep telling us. they are basically ID10Ts compared to SIRI or google on my Telephone. The one thing they do have is a kind of Personality compared to Alexa, which is non existent, and yes I it.
I bought this unit from walmart on Black Friday sales. It only works when the wifi connection is good, but unfortunately most of the time it stays offline though the router is fairly close (5m, no obstruction). Switch to 2.4G or 5G does not resolve the issue. I have tried to reset the device and it worked right after that, for a short while, before dropping offline for no apparent reasons. Power cycle solves the problem, but is not an option in the long term. When it is offline, Google Home (iOS) cannot control it. Weirdly enough, the bluetooth also has issues. My phone is sitting right beside Google Nest, connected via bluetooth, and the speaker will play for a while before stops working. It is quite frustrating experience to work with this unit. Google should really improve their product to be more reliable! Or maybe it is time to turn to other brands.
