Brother scanncut dx is awesome for crafters, teachers or even parents. There is a little learning curve if you are a first time user. But very easy to use. I made several things for kids like personalizing, card and decorations. Works great!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I am one of the many DX users that had mat loading issues right from the start. I have figured out a way to force the mat to load correctly without it pulling to one side. The machine is a dream to use. It works great on vinyl and paper, and is very quiet. Hopefully Brother will come up with a fix for the mat loading issues.
Brother makes easy to use machines. Only thing its hard to find accessories . I already need a new mat for my sdx125 and they are not available yet. And it cuts vinyl beautifully but card stock im having a problem with.
I've had the new SDX125i for less than a month. I've used it a handful of times and the mat will not load anymore. I was able to buy another mat online and it worked great. After using it another couple of times, I'm having the same problem yet again with it not loading. I really dislike the fact that there is a different mat for this new machine that can only be fed in one direction. As for the auto blade, I think it is cutting way to deep which is also destroying the mat. I have to say it is super quiet and has a better scanner but sadly i'm returning it.
I was super exited to get the machine for the built in scanner to use for cutting small doll patterns. I am still trying to learn how to scan the pattern parts so they cut cleanly. My only disappointment is that the accessories are not available for sale even on the internet. I need the thin fabric blade and the fabric cutting mat
So, I upgraded. The mats I bought for my CM350 won't work with this, which is upsetting since they are extremely expensive. The mat that came with it won't feed properly - my CM350 never had this issue. I use both, until my mat supply runs out for my CM350. I hope by then the DX has cheaper mats. I think the machine should come with more than one mat, or at least all three mats.
I am on my second SDX125 and I may be sending this one back also. Occasionally having mat loading problems, different parts of the mat cut differently. Now it has started cutting things twice all on its own. When this machine works as it should, it is great. The mats are another issue that needs to be resolved by Brother.
I had wanted a Brother Scan n cut for a long time, and decided to get the new Scanncut DX125. It is fun to use, and I am still trying out the product. I have recently been very disappointed when one of my mats stopped feeding. I believe it is a mat problem, since only the mat I received with the machine has stopped working. It had misfed a couple of times, though I had been careful to feed it straight into the machine. Now the mat will not feed at all, even though there doesn't seem to be any very visible reason for it not feeding to the naked eye. A second mat I had purchased separately is working fine at this time. I will call customer service on Monday to see if they can help with this problem! I want to love my machine and look forward to using it, but mats are expensive, and after reading some of the other reviews, it looks like this is a problem.
I have had my Scan and Cut dx about 2 weeks and already having trouble with loading the mat, same problem many many are having. Must order a new mat, replacements are impossible to find. SHAME on you Brother for not addressing this problem that an overwhelming number of your loyal customers are facing without your support. Unfortunately I will have to return this machine....
I have used my Scanncut SDX125 THREE times... then the mat loaded crooked and now it won't load at all... BUT it does go in backwards or upside down... They are sending me a new mat but they are out of stock! This is my second one as my first one had a malfunction right out of the box...
