I'm more than excited about this! I'm a 34ish(I think!) mom of a 15, 13 & 12 yr old!! Obviously much doesn't go to me & stay in my possession long! BUT!!! This scooter is something much different!! I absolutely love this!! Literally! if I'm able to drive this at any point- I do! It stays charge forever it seems like! The app allows you to lock it & even sets off a small alarm If it's moved while locked! The brakes work amazingly! You can set your Max speeds within the app as well! It climbs & handles rough terrain like a champ! I live in NM so that's a must! The 1st day I did allow my husband to ride it-it did awesome of course! He even took each one of my daughters for a spin! Combined weight for each of those rides were at least 300lbs & they each got it to 20mph & sustained that easily! But it's mine only now lol! Being a mom is tough! But being a mom in a pandemic has been the most challenging time of my life! Going outside really seems like a thing of the past! This scooter has started to change that for me! I find myself wanting to go outside just to ride my scooter! It's something new to learn & truly helps you discover more than you can imagine! The distance & speed & reliability this scooter brings only emphasizes the ability for you to wonder! I can't think of 1 thing I dislike at this point! I've driven this everyday for the past 2 weeks! Not long distance, but I'd say at least a mile or so a day! The day I got it in I fully charged my scooter—& I have not charged it once since then! & to be clear this scooter is the 1st scooter I've ever owned &/or driven!! It's perfect! The overall size-perfect! The bottom step is wide & very comfortable to place your feet! The Bluetooth connects quickly! I'm just in love with my scooter! I'd definitely recommend! It's definitely worth the investment!!
Let me begin by saying that I'm in my 60's. I have never used a scooter, skateboard, etc. in my life but I do know how to ride a bicycle. After the initial set-up, I was up and running on this kick scooter within about 5 minutes and I didn't fall off! It is so much fun to ride this scooter!! I put one foot on the deck and kicked off with the other foot. I slowly pressed the accelerator throttle and I was off and running. Assembling the scooter was very simple and folding the scooter is also very easy. The user manual (a paper copy so you don't have to go online to see instructions) is informative and helpful. I personally cannot lift the scooter up high enough to put it into my car trunk. It weighs 45 lbs. The weight limit for the scooter is 220 lbs. I am, however, able to fold it and carry it down a short flight of stairs. I experimented with the battery charger. It's easy to connect. Following the quick start guide, I scanned the QR code provided in the paperwork and installed the NIU app on my phone. I then connected my scooter to my phone using Bluetooth. You must have your phone pretty close to the scooter in order for things to work properly. The phone app allows you to personalize settings such as your riding statistics, riding speed, etc. You can see the battery charge level on the app. You can lock the scooter using the app. The app documents the serial number of your scooter. Once everything on the app is set up, you don't have to have your phone with you in order for the scooter to work. This is nice because my phone plan doesn't have a lot of data allowance so I won't be using the app while I'm out of my wifi range at home. The scooter has a dashboard that shows your current speed, battery charge level, and speed mode. I'm still experimenting with the different speed modes. You'll also see error codes if there are any issues. Here are some highlights of the scooter: range of up to 31 miles per full charge, top speed 20 mph, 20% hill grade climbing ability, wide handlebars for better control, wide deck of close to 7 inches, 9.5 inch rubber pneumatic tires (tubeless), triple braking system (front/read disk brakes and a rear electric brake), bright halo headlight that is on the entire time you're riding, and rear brake light which lights up when I use the hand brakes or just release the throttle and begin to slow down. I don't plan to use my scooter at night but I did check out the beam of the headlight while inside the garage. The beam is very bright and has a wide span. There are hand brake levers on the handlebars but I think I'll only use those when a quick, emergency stop is required. All other braking can be done just by releasing the throttle and the scooter will immediately slow down and coast to a stop. I really like that braking feature. There is a bell on the left side handlebars that is actually loud enough for you to alert people of your presence. This is important because the scooter runs very quiet. I went to the NIU website and found a lot of useful information. This company made an electric Moped years ago and now they have created a very nice electric scooter. I use it everyday to be outside in fresh air. I'm still getting used to it so I haven't ventured far from home yet. I'm just riding around my neighborhood until I'm totally comfortable with riding. This review is very long and I feel like I've just touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to explaining all the wonderful details of this scooter. Thank you, NIU, for creating such an awesome scooter!
Unpacked the scooter, spent 20 minutes reading directions and five more to get it to the point if charging the battery. Plugged the charger to it six hours later still charging. Went to bed and when I got up it was fully charged, so I can't say exactly how long it took to charge the first time. Following the directions it took about 10 minutes to load the app and get it ready to ride. I let my stepdaughter take it for its maiden ride. She rode it around the yard. Handled it great. Then took it out on to our old asphalt road. She rode it to my brother in-laws house about a half a mile away. No problems at all. This is a well built machine made like a work horse. Our next test will be a trip to town 6 miles from home. I would recommend this for anyone needing an economical errand runner, or possibly if you live close enough to work an inexpensive ride to work.
The scooter is better than expected. This is not a Chevy it's a Buick. Solid build, performs as advertised. You could certainly spend more on a scooter but unless you are an idiot, who wants to be riding at 45 mph in traffic. If you have dedicated bike lanes, sure but with people checking their phones while driving I'm on the sidewalk on my scooter and my bike.
I have several electric scooters and one of them is for moving around the city of DC. I had the Glion Dolly scooter due to its portability but after a year, I feel like it was lacking in power, deck size and comfort in absorbing shocks on roads. There are a lot of options in this category but the NIU caught my eyes. I ended up with the KQi3 Sport as it would do what I needed without breaking the bank. I was blown away by the quality of the ride for the price point of $150 off the MSRP. Here are a few reasons why the NIU is a top contender in this commuter scooter segment. 1. I learned that NIU has been making adult scooters prior to getting in the business of kick scooters. The quality does show. This thing feels planted on the ground when moving. I love the width of the handlebars and the deck size makes this thing a joy to ride. I guess having the experience in personal mobility shows throughout the scooter. 2. At 250 lbs rider weight, this thing does not hesitate to move even in slight to moderate inclines. It has a soft acceleration which makes it ideal for moving around the city with people. 3. The deck, the deck, the deck. Very comfy and wide deck to plant your feet. 4. The tires absorb the bumps in on the roads and pavements like a champ. My prior scooter with solid tires was brutal on my body. With this, I don't even look where I'm riding. Just point and go. 5. I'm glad I got the sport version as it has only one front disc brake and lever which frees up space to be able to attach a phone holder on the other side. It would be a challenge for the pro version. 6. I'm surprised that the app works really well. You have to go through the tutorial first to unlock the max speed but after that, you are good to go. No need to use that app after that if you don't want to. 7. Can I say that I'm in love with the bell? Soft, yet effective in letting people know that you are around. 8. For this price point, the acceleration throttle is precise even at very low speed. A sine wave controller perhaps? It's very smooth which I love and it makes it easy to navigate in the city especially with people around. The only 2 things I would like to improve on would be the weight and have a folding mechanism for the handle bars. Carrying this around for short distances is not a problem but not for long. I got a handle bar wrap to use on the stem when folded and also shoulder strap in case I have to carry it upstairs. It would be nice if the handles could have fold in but not a deal breaker. When I'm on the metro, I just stay at the end of the car. For the price, this scooter is a winner and has all the elements to make city riding a joy.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this amazing scooter!! It was packed so carefully and so well, and everything arrived in perfect condition. The user manual was pretty clear to read and it didn't require much effort to put this scooter together. Upon unboxing, the battery was at 1 bar (out of 5 bars), and it took 3.5 hours to charge it to full battery. I am 5'9 and 150 lbs, and I can stand comfortably on the scooter and my arm rests on the handle just right. (The handle height is adjustable although not much.) The scooter will go as fast as 19 mile per hour, although sometimes for reasons unknown, it'll only go up to 17 miles per hour or less, although still very fast in general. There is a cell phone app that can be downloaded and connected to the scooter through bluetooth, and from the app, there's custom setting where I could set maximum speed allowed, which is really nice because if the teenager in the family uses this scooter I could control the maximum speed allowed on the scooter. The breaks are a bit abrupt and not very smooth, although once I stop powering up, it'd just slow down, so I don't always need to use the break (In fact most of the time I don't). For me, going approximately between 10-19 miles per hour just scooting around in the neighborhood, it drains about 10% of the battery in about half an hour, and the app on the phone actually tells me how much battery is left (so does the screen on the scooter). Overall, I would say that this scooter delivers everything it advertises that it does. This is a very well made, very nice looking, and overall just a very well done scooter. If I absolutely must pick something less-than-ideal to say about it, I would say that the app is hard to understand and took some time to figure out, but overall I'm incredibly happy with this scooter. Absolutely recommend.
I like this scooter! It is a very nice looking scooter. It rides nice and smooth. It is easy to maintain the perfect speed and it is easy to control. It has good brakes and an easy to use kick stand. The Bluetooth is a bit difficult to set up but it tells you about the bike, you can set up a route to follow, and it does trouble shooting.
We'll the scooter is nice good quality and very nice but I guess I got a bad one cause on my first day of riding I got a code 3 that started blinking and the brakes didn't work while I was riding so I fell and now I have a scooter that doesn't work , I'm hoping some one can help me take the code 3 off
What is wrong with you guys? The description clearly says the maximum load is 265 lbs. But the wrap on the scooter clearly says 100kg (220 lbs). Why you guys are trying to cheat customers. I need the correct product. I should have bought this product directly from NIU which clearly stated it support 265 lbs. Also, you placed the product in KQi3 box instead of using the correct box which is KQi3 sport. The labels, manual and sitickers all say KQi3 and 220 lbs. But the product has tab saying "KQi3 sport". Which one I should believe? Is this the right product?
I bought two of these for my kids for Christmas and one had a computer malfunction immediately. The error message says the battery is overheating even though it's never been used. We've done everything we can to reset it but nothing fixes it. Because it was sold through a third party seller, Walmart won't exchange it for the same price I paid (I bought them on a Black Friday sale), so my only choice it to return it and pay full price for a new one. It's now out of my price range — I wouldn't have ever paid full price for these. I've reached out to NIU three times over the past 5 days because it's under warranty, but no one writes me back, and they don't have a US phone number to call for support. What's the point of having a warranty if the company won't respond or do anything to help? Now I'm uncomfortable buying a replacement because it's clear that if I need to contact them for a warranty issue in the future they're not going to help. Unfortunately, my son loves it and wants another, so I feel like I have no choice but to buy an expensive scooter with no warranty. I even paid extra for Walmart's Allstate protection plan, but it doesn't kick into effect until the manufacturer's warranty is over, so it's worthless. As far as the scooter themselves, they are larger than I expected and are very sturdy. My lucky son (the one with a working Christmas gift) loves it and has been riding it all around town. It's quiet, powerful, and folds up easily. I don't think it will go 25 miles on one charge like it claims, but we haven't tested that fully. I would rate these 5/5 if the company stood behind its product. Unfortunately that's not the case. If I were to do this all over I would stay away from the NIU brand at all costs.
