This is my first Sony TV in several decades. I upgraded from a Vizio to the Sony A80K and I could not be happier. I find myself wanting to watch TV more now that I am experiencing OLED technology firsthand. I can't imagine ever going back to anything but the sights and sounds that Sony offers with thisTV
Brought TV in Best Buy and love it. Beautiful OLED Display. Tons of features and settings to make already picture to your liking.
best tv too watch movies, tv shows, and relax and watch with 4k ultra movies
We have had our Sony A80K OLED 4K Ultra HD television for a few months now and we are really impressed by the quality of the picture on this set. The color and clarity is amazing. As it is a smart TV, we were also impressed with the ease with which we can move from cable to our other streaming services.
This is going in a living room space where the TV is going to be used only occasionally. I wanted to avoid external speakers and the whole home-theatre look and accessory clutter. This Sony is rated as one of the top for the sound of it's internal speakers, owing to actuators that use the screen surface as a sounding board. And, it delivers nicely. Plenty of volume to fill the room, nice sound, and good bass. It does not deliver room shaking rumbling sub-woofer sound, and I knew that was the compromise I was making to have an ultra-clean simple look. I matched this with a Roku 4K stick, which fits nicely in the TV's connection area, powered by the neighboring USB port, entirely invisible. The only cord to the TV is the power cord. The screen itself is sharp, as you would expect from a Sony. I will warn that there is no way to use the internal speakers and a separate sub-woofer. So if your thing is room-shaking action movies, you may end up adding a sound bar, which sort of defeats the main selling point of this TV. But, if you just want a TV in a room with decent sound and picture, and not have the TV system be a big thing, this Sony could be perfect for you.
The set is very good. Personally, I prefer a slightly brighter display with some broadcasts. My main discomfort is the lack of controls on the set. The unit is totally remote-dependent. Also, I prefer total picture feature control as opposed to pre-set features in categories such as “game”, “standard”, “cinema”, etc. If able, I would return the set for an improved Sony model that may address May preferences.
Bought this about 1 month ago. Everything was amazing and working just fine until just within the first week, when I opened a movie in Bravia Core, the whole screen froze up and whatever I did, did not do anything to the screen. I have to hard reset the TV which is kinda sad because hard resetting might wear down your TV if I have to keep doing that over and over again. Another thing. Google TV software is fuly updated with 400 Mbps internet yet the response time and fluidity of the UI from Android TV is horrible! It is not as smooth as other UI or streaming service. Idk what happened but if these two issues keep happening, I will have to get a new TV and I just moved on from Samsung. I refuse to go back to Samsung after they charge me amount to repair for a TV that was still under warranty. Hopefully, Sony TV isnt like Samsung at all.
Beautiful image Great sound All the hard wired and wireless connections you wish for But it just keeps getting a blackout and it stops working unless you unplugged it from the power, wait a few seconds and it will work again. It is just annoyingly frustrating.
First, it is an amazingly beautiful picture. It is unfortunately in my opinion contrasty and shadowy. In all fairness, I have problems seeing grey area due to my age. My recommendation would be that it is an amazing picture for those that have great youthful vision but it is unforgiving to the rest of us. I have ventured into picture settings. There are a tremendous number of settings that give you great control. Here's my complaint. There are no tutorials therefore it's complete trial and error on a fairly new OLED technology. Also, the settings are discreet for each input and streaming app in addition to each image protocol (ie, standard, HDR, dolby digital). Very time consuming and overwhelming. It would be helpful if these settings could be saved as many custom settings such as custom 1, custom 2, etc.
I Just contacted Sony about my TV which is less than a year and half old and has dark spots. The customer support agent said " It is difficult for Sony or any other manufacturer to quote the life expectancy for a product. Certain variables, such as the amount of use (or lack thereof) a product receives and the environmental conditions in which a product is being used, play a part in the life expectancy of a product." So i'm doing what i wish someone had done for me and trying to make sure people know 2 Years is too much to ask for your Thousand dollar Televisions. I will and suggest you look elsewhere
