I was shooting a concert for Billy Idol at the Hoover Dam and one of his road crew had these shoes on… I asked him how they held up to tour life and he talked to me about these shoes for the next 30 minutes! He loves these shoes! So when I got back home I ordered myself a pair! I feel like they're a little heavy but oh man do they feel good on my feet! I am recovering from plantar fasciitis and these issues are not only beneficial to me because of the excellent support, also they look pretty dang cool. I mean it, they are a great looking shoe!! I haven't been hiking but I did shoot a concert at red rocks recently with them and they held up great! The abrasive dirt cleaned right off of them and they look brand new even after spending three days working at red rocks.
Great shoes!! Easy on, easy off, great on the trail from smooth, to rough, to loose rock these baddies handled them all looking good doing it and still looked good afterward! I have had about 12 pairs of chameleons over the years and these are keepers.
Most comfortable hiking shoe ever, on my third pair and been wearing them since they were introduced. This shoe and the vented moc slide sold me on the Merrell brand for life. Love your shoes.
These shoes are by far the most comfortable supportive shoe I have ever owned. I wear them on a daily basis at work where I am up and down on ladders most of the day.
Love the new Chameleon 8's! They seem lighter and more comfortable than past ones I've had for some reason.
These Chameleons were for my son, his third pair. I usually buy them used, because he's still young and and very hard on shoes. This was a special father son trip for 2 weeks. We explored Utan, hiking and repelling slot canyons, and scrambling Hills and washes.
I'm wearing them in the Sahel region of Africa. Daily temps in the 110F range, with a lot of sand-like dirt and crushed rock. I'm getting about 2-3 months out of them In these conditions. What makes them great in easier environments are problematic here. Soft soles means I've gotten bone bruises landing heavily on rocks. The venting is great but in this heat is still a very real issue. Still, I have found nothing else that gives me this combination of pliability, light weight and overall comfort.
I am giving 4 stars, would give 5...if they had a wide size. Also if they went back to the old lace system. They used to have a button to release laces. This new system you can't release the laces. No way to retract lace, it stays to long and have to tuck up in laces.
Comfortable but breaking down too fast. Inside lining at the heal has started to rip and expose structural support. These have not been worn that much and the sole and exterior remain in good shape.
You know I wasn't going to say anything but seeing this email asking for a review kinda set me off. I have been buying these shoes for like 3 years for work because I go into peoples houses and I find the slip-on's really convenient. I had to exchange the first pair because the size has suddenly changed. And the second pair they sent me the heel back is defective on one of the shoes (super annoying on a slip on). I'm not sure if Merrell has changed factories or is having staffing problems but my last purchase really left me with a bad taste. Which really sucks because I love these shoes. They make me look even more dorky than I am but they fit my lifestyle perfectly. I'm sure I will order another pair and I just hope they are more like the product I'm used to. Normally I would give this shoe a 5 star all day. More if I could. But this last purchase just left me feeling burned.
