I wanted to switch from a vet brand of cat chow that was super expensive. I looked for a quality indoor cat food. My cats love Friskies Whitefish Pate so I went with this brand for indoor cats. I have one male who can get urinary crystals which is why I'[ve been buying the expensive brand. The completely love this food and even though I put out both brands they eat this one first. The older cat that can get crystals has been fine with this food. So because they love it, so do I. I also like the quality promise on the package.
We have been struggling to find a food that all 3 of our kids will eat. We have Teferi (7yo male) Lane (5yo female) and Daisy (1.5yo female) Teferi doesn't tend to eat much (and is super skinny, he's otherwise been healthy until a month ago he had elevated liver values- between Sam-E and this he was normal upon recheck) Lane is super super picky. Daisy, so far has been pretty easy going. We feed them three times a day- one cup split up each feeding. The first couple times, they polished their bowls off. They've never done this before! Teferi would occasionally throw up some of his food- there hasn't been an instance since switching. He is more active. We have discontinued the Sam-E and will be rechecking his liver values in a month, but we hope with the food that he finally eats most or all of his portion, that he will be normal! We chose Nutro Natural Choice White fish/brown rice Indoor Adult because picky Lane tends to like Fish better (with our multiple trials of canned foods- they get some at night.) It was priced in the middle and on sale. It was important to me that their food does not have corn, grain or by-products in it. Quality food can save time and money on sick cats, but for it to be affordable at the same time, makes a big impact on our being able to provide for our babies. (Our other two are on rx urinary diets- so they already eat up the monthly food bill for all of us.) Coupons would make this even sweeter, as far as I can tell, our cats and their parents couldn't be happier!
Many holistic-minded vets recommend wet food based on the percentage of Protein, Fat, and Carbohydrates and the levels of Plant Proteins in the food. This dry food fits within the healthy limits of carbohydrates and fats. Protein is a little low, but is almost 10% higher than your average dry cat food. My cats have been eating this for over 4 years. The picky one and the beggar both love it and complained when we tried to change to a different dry food. I'm glad I get to keep with the convenience of dry food without causing damage to my cats' bodies by providing poor nutrition. I make sure to give my cats an additional somethign each day to provide additional protein.
We have three cats, Mo, a five year old rescue, Gilly, a three year old rescue and Petie Rose, a nine month old kitten we rescued with the rest of her litter (of seven!) at the age of 3 weeks. We bottle fed and raised the kittens, had them spayed, vaccinated and found homes for the other 6. Petie decided she would not eat kitten chow, but rather, ate the national brand "premium" cat food the others had been raised on. She gained weight at an alarming rate, and was very gassy. Her feces was rank and a brilliant green and worst of all was the room clearing gas. After some research, I concluded that we needed to try a grain free cat food. At the pet store, my husband and I read every label and were very surpised that quite a few of the super expensive cat foods still had grain as the first ingrediant. We settled on the Nutro as it was grain free, middle of the pack cost, relatively available and a flavor all three cats would like. Three bags later, Peties weight has stabilized, and her gas issues have disappeared. Mo is regrowing hair on her belly (she had been plucking her belly bare, apparently because of dry skin) and all three cats have silky soft coats. We love this stuff and recommend to everyone.
At first I was a bit nervous about the new formula (finicky digestive tracts and all that), but after a very gradual, two week migration from the old Ocean Fish formula, my 2 year old Tabby is totally loving the new White Fish and Brown Rice formula. She just devours it. She also seems brighter, more active, and happier, and her coat is even nicer than before. I cannot recommend this product highly enough.
I have struggled to find a food that my cats will eat that does not cause them to have upset stomachs. Once I started feeding this food I noticed no more upset stomachs! There coats look great and they have healthy energy! I won't feed them anything else!!! Plus they love the taste!
Recently just switched from Purina One to this in the the hard and soft loaf and Boo Boo loves it. The only down side is she cries for it all the time. Don't know if its because she is not as full because of less carbs or because its just that good. Just wish the kibble was a little smaller it seems to give her a little trouble eating it and she is a young cat. Over all very happy!
Our 3 year old cat is very choosy about her food. She will only eat fish and seafood. When you discontinued the Ocean Fish Weight Loss, we were very distraught. We are trying the White Fish and Brown Rice. The jury is still out. She seems to accept it. After her next visit to the Vet, we will see if we needto find a new Weight Loss dry food.
Not sure if this is new formula, but definitely different packaging than the Oceanfish flavored Indoor variety my cat has been eating for years. Picked up 2 bags of this, my cat will not touch it.
Had to buy this new formula and my cats won't touch it. Very disappointed that it was changed and so different. Can't even buy old formula to mix in the new to help them transition. Might have to buy another brand.
