I have tried everything from drugstore to high end department store makeup looking for a brow product that actually matches my blonde hair and ash blonde eyebrows. After years of searching I have finally found it, for $3.00! Couldn't be happier :) I like to get the product on the spooli and then dab by angled brow brush in it to apply it and it goes on perfectly, Bang on match :)
I've used this product for several years, and I love it! I've tried other products and they just don't give me the same, natural-looking results and staying power for this phenomenal price! I live in Texas and it stays put even when I sweat! I have naturally light auburn hair and my eyebrows are naturally darker, and the medium shade is perfect for me.
Today was the first day I used this! Wow.. great products E.L.F! :)
This review is for the colored "Tame" product only. I have full brows and do not use the "Treat" product. I bought the color Dark. It is a very warm brown, and not terribly dark, so just be aware when you go to buy this. I think e.l.f. really needs to expand the shade range on this product. I often dye my hair auburn, and I was looking for a compatible warm brow shade. This worked out great. The color runs warm, and coated my brows completely, changing the brows to the shade I wanted. It held them nicely in place throughout the day, without feeling "crunchy." It did not flake or smear. I love that e.l.f. used a smaller brush size, which make this much easier to apply than other brow gels I've tried. I used this after filling my brows in with the powder side of the e.l.f. eyebrow kit in Medium.
I like the brow gel. It does what I need it to do, and the shade works fine for me. But a smaller brush would make it much easier to use. It would also make more sense to split this up into two separate products, since I've pretty much ignored the "treat" side of this (so have most of the reviewers I pay attention to).
I got e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow Treat & Tame (Deep). It is a good product but I wish the brush had a curve so the color can go through the brow easily and smoothly. I usually use Cream Eyeliner e.l.f. Studio - Cream Eyeliner "copper" on my eyebrows as a base and then I use Eyebrow Treat & Tame.
I have all the colors except light since I didn't know which would match best. Deep: I picked up the deep color maybe a year or two ago when the tubes were frosted, not clear. It is a bit too dark for me, but the color is neutral. It also stuck to my skin a lot. Since the reformulation and repackaging, it appears elf fixed the problem where the formula sticks to skin, but other reviews say the deep shade is now warm toned. Medium: I got this color about 1 week ago and it is super red, well auburn, but this color is perfect for redheads, I can't wear this color, but it sticks to hairs, not skin which is nice. I'll give it to a friend who has red hair. If anyone at elf reads this, please rename this shade auburn! Ash: I got this color in the same order about 1 week ago, it's now my go to shade. I have neutral to cool toned pale skin, and medium neutral brown hair. I fill in sparse areas of my eyebrows with elf lock on liner and brow cream in medium brown (which really is medium and neutral!), then I finish them with ash. Overall nice product, but the brush could be smaller and better shaped, more similar to the brush in benefit's gimme brow, and elf really needs to make more shades, especially neutral and cool ones. This product would be so much more popular if there were more colors!!
I've used this a handful of times since I've gotten it. When I apply it I do love the results. The texture makes my eyebrows look fuller without looking fake. However the brush for the color or "tame" side is so big it makes the application awkward and I spend more time trying to keep it on my eyebrow. It does last and look great though when applied. If I have time to apply my makeup I'll still use this product but when I'm in a rush I stick with my pencil. If they re-worked the color brush this would become a go to product for me.
VERY disappointed that the ASH color has been out of stock for so long. Looks like it's being discontinued. I have tried the newer option and do not like. This product is the most natural looking on and the color is perfect for many of us. This is the third popular product I used that seems to be phased out. I have now had to look at other makeup lines to replace. : (
Why is this sparkly? I don't understand the concept behind the little glitters and why anyone would want their eyebrows like that. Its a good product without the glitters, makes your brows look more natural than filling them in. I just hate it because of the little glitters but there are little fibers if you look closely.
