Nothing special. No extra padding but it does have extra material for those who'd like to put a pad on their mattress and this will still cover everything so it won't stain or get wet. Good stuff. I'd be careful when drying it, though. The cloth might look like it'll shrivel up from the heat. Probably best to hang dry.
Works well if you are careful. Never use real hot water or dryer above low IT WILL MELT- this is our 2nd one. Does the job, but would not suggest for potty training stage as it does wear out quickly with constant washings. So... Great for older children who might occasionally spill juice ect on bed, little potty trainers should get a better quality one as it will be cheaper in long run instead of replacing a few times.
I bought one of these, same brand, about 6 months ago for $15. It was good quality. Then decided I needed another, and happily saw they were clearanced to $10. They are NOT the same item/quality that they were 6 months ago. The top is made of mesh instead of soft fabric, and the sides, instead of fabric are made of horriblely cheap canvas (the kind that the bottom of cheap canvas bins is made out of). Extremely rippable and I don't see it lasting through many washes. Keep your package and reciept in case they send you the crummy version!
I have boughten several of these types of matress pads in the past. I found this to be very poor quality in comparison. The material on the top balls up and comes off in strings and bunches after only one washing. We have not tried out the waterproof material yet so I'm not sure about this but just would not recommend because of the poor quality of material.
I have 2 waterproof mattress pads that lasted 5 years, thru numerous bed-wetting accidents and the same amount of wash & dry cycles before the plastic lining underneath the pad of one of the pads ripped. I couldn't remember where I purchased them (walmart, Target, dept store) but I knew it cost under $20/ea. So when I saw this one I decided to get it cuz the description seemed to match the ones I owned. I was wrong...the side ripped while I was putting it on.It's made of a much cheaper material which will probably fall apart pretty soon. I've only had it for a couple weeks so I will revise my review if it holds up well. But so far, it feels like a cheap version of my original and has already torn in one area.
I was rather disappointed in how flimsy the mattress cover was. Just putting it on the bed my husband stuck his finger through the mesh on the side and pulling it from one side to the other I heard multiple stitches pop. And no it wasn't the wrong size. We have a king and I bought a king cover.
I purchased this mattress pad not even a month ago to keep my cat from peeing on my mattress, since it is waterproof. I went to wash it tonight, and when I put it in the dryer, I was very careful to follow the instructions on the care tag that say TUMBLE DRY LOW. I was wary of this to begin with, seeing as how the pad is lined with plastic, but it explicitly states TUMBLE DRY LOW so I just assumed it would be okay, since the instructions state for you to do so. How wrong I was! I took it out of the dryer and the plastic had melted and bunched up everywhere, and now it is practically useless. I'm tempted to take it back to the store but I'm afraid they won't take it back. Companies really should not put statements like that in the care instructions if it is not safe to do so. If I ever buy another one of these, I will make sure never to put it in the dryer again, even though it states that you can. I can't stress that enough!
I purchased two queen size Waterproof mattress pads and they were not the quality I expected. I opened a package to cover new mattresses I purchased and the pad tore on the sides. It is made of tissue paper and tires very easily. Do not waste money or time purchasing this product. It is not worth the headache or money. San Antonio, Texas
When I went to put this item on my bed I noticed that there were 2 rips in the side of the material. Much flimsier than I ecpected for nearly $30.
I had purchased these instead of the cheaper brand because I thought maybe they would be mid grade. I was wrong. The material on the sides is legit paper it ripped putting it on straight from the package. Do not waste your money, especially if you have a pillow top. Very poor quality, it's not even worth $5.
