3 stars due to factors aside from ice retention. The ice retention was the most disappointing feature. Maybe I expected too much. The wheels and luggage handle actually felt smooth and sturdy. I loved the ruggedness of the ice chest, side handles, pockets and CAMO. I own 7 coolers(bigger and smaller), but none of this size and camo. I put two 7 lbs bags of ice in the cooler to test it. It was 75 degrees outside 2 days in a row and I kept the cooler in the garage. The ice went in at around 5:30pm on a Mon night. I checked the ice Tues morning and drained. Check again Tues night and drained. Friday morning at 9:44AM(per photo) there was no ice. I would not take this cooler on a 2 night trip with food. I would only take it on a 1 day or an overnight trip. As long as that is you're expectation, than this is a very good cooler. Took it back and got the coleman Xrteme 40qt.
I bought the cooler for my son in law's Christmas present. We never did open the package after we received it. We proceeded to wrap it for the gift. On Christmas Day, my son in law was the first to ever open the package. He really loved it. We didn't notice that the axle hat nut that holds the wheels on the axle had fallen off as he rolled toward his truck to take it home. When he picked off the ground to put it in the truck bed, one of wheels fell off since the axle hat nut had not been installed correctly or loosely. Of course I was embarrassed because it made me feel like I had bought him a cheap gift. I think that for the $100 I had paid for it that it should have been better inspected when built. I thought Igloo cooler were supposed to be quality. I was wrong!!!!!!
