I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. This is a great feeder. Looks handmade and natural wood cedar. I put it at by backyard where I can see all the wild birds coming. I have also same brand bird food. First red cardinals started to come then different types of birds that I dont even know. The structure is strong and heavy so you may need a strong tree to put it on. I havent seen that much birds one time all but I think upto 8-10 birds can feed at one time. Gives a warm look to my garden
Hello. For several years I've been using bird feeders and have always enjoyed watching the birds eat. We even have a bird bath in our backyard. A few years after the pandemic, members of my family and relatives have received food from the food bank, and if you don't cook what you can, the deliveries can really pile up on you. So, after receiving some food items from them, I found myself with foods that I don't eat much of, and I needed to find a way to control the rations I was given. So, I decided to try feeding the birds. I always knew that they ate bird seed and suet (some varieties containing dried mealworms), but I discovered that they also ate uncooked human foods resembling seeds, such as legumes (lentils, yellow and green split peas), long and short grain rice, and sunflower seeds. Also, more interestingly, bird also eat breakfast cereals, such as Rice Crispies (rice), unsweetened Corn Flakes (corn, which also attract crows - I wonder why), Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Jolly Ranchers cereal (fruity smell), and other types of cereal. If you don't have a bird feeder, you can buy a tall outdoor trash can and tie it to a post or a pole, or even a tree and invert the lid. Place a pet feeding bowl on the lid and fill it with any of the forementioned items above, and give it a few dry weather days to weeks and you'll notice them taking a shine to that location, but it's best to observe where the birds frequent and set up a bird station there first, then set up another, if desired. I wanted a large sturdy bird feeder so I could feed more birds at one time and even experiment feeding them with tree nuts, as I am given walnuts and other nuts sometimes. So far, the birds like the rice better, but I may have to break the nuts into smaller pieces. I've checked Amazon as well, and I like that this feeder doesn't have a hinged roof (which Amazon customers have complained of leaking), screwed hinged (which Amazon customers have complained of coming undone), and I can care less for any paint (which Amazon customers have complained of chipping and weathering away). This one is the best one as far as size and price are concerned, as even Amazon has some smaller and painted with red or green roofs, and those 3 pound or 5 quart feeders are about the same price as this grand chalet version, if not more. All in all, I'm satisfied.
I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. It's got the smell of cedar as soon as you open the box. Pictures online don't do justice to how big this is. It really is impressive in size and will feed a lot of birds for a long time. The hanger is stapled down multiple times to secure it well. My only concern is what looks to be white fiberglass residue on parts of the wood. It cleans off, but I'll be checking in to see what it is.
i had one of these for years so looked for replacement. I looked in the box but didn't realize that the bottom edge was split where they tacked the bottom rim on. The nail they put through the side of the lid, so it will open and stay attached, also split the wood. There are other splits in the wood. I am repairing it and hope it lasts for awhile.
The feeder that I received today in the package, judging by the photo on the website, is very different in quality for the worse from the one shown. In the most inappropriate and most significant places there are chips and knots. It will collapse very quickly from the effects of the elements. I will try to order it again and return this one. If the second time there is a failure, I will buy a large feeder somewhere else.
A bit disappointing. Had to get a nail and hammer and touch the structure up as it wasn't put together very nice. Also, the wood is then and cheap feeling. Might last a year or two maybe.
Very poor construction.! Hinges for roof were two nails and one did not go into roof. A piece of the roof fell off. It is still sitting on my workbench in garage and I plan to return it. I thought Pennington would be a good brand.
then after a couple rainy days the woods soften and it started to fall apart because of the weight
The string broke after not even having a month, the bird house fell and completely broke.
Hanging wire came loose from the staples and feeder crashed to the ground and the feeder is now coming loose because the nails or staples came out that was holding it together
