I had looked at several laptop accessories. The cost of each one of these accessories were as much if not more than the total cost of the I-Key Kit. I also like the fact that the kit comes in a zipper pouch. This makes it easy to travel with, which is one of the main purposes of having a notebook to begin with.
Since I received this in the mail, I haven't been able to stop using it. The mouse is awesome, the USB port is better than the one I bought a week earlier for $10. The keypad isn't as bad as everyone says it is. It is made out of rubber and is very durable. You do have to get used to the feel, but it shouldn't take long. The card reader is very useful as well. Works perfectly. As for the retractable phone cord, I think it's useless and out of date.
Keypad is a little hard to use since it is soft rubber, but overall, for the money it is a handy thing to have with all the accessories and case for them if you travel a lot. Comes with number pad, mini-mouse, internet cable and the four extra USB port feature is great. It gets 5 stars in all areas but I couldn't get it to do that...
The products were not quite as sturdy as I would have hoped. The key pad is a flexible rubber pad, I thought it was a solid plastic one and the mouse actually squeaked a bit when I first used it. Since I didn't get it for everyday use, it isn't a real problem for me. It's quite handy to have eveything in one nice little package and it's still a good value for the money.
Well, I didn't get what I expected. The mouse is the most usfull thing. The keypad keys are rubber,and not "hard", which is annoying. The USB port is ok, the telephone cord is NOT retractable, although it works . The card reader is ok.The keypad doesn't retract any more either.
I thought this would be a great product. I was wrong within 2 minutes of opening the box 2 of the items in the kit were broken from regular use. The retractable telephone wire would not retract once extended and when I retracted the USB cable from the numeric keypad the entire spring loaded device shattered. I would not recomened this to anyone. My advice spend the extra dollars and get a nicer one from somewhere else.
I hate using the number keys on the top of my laptop keyboard. It's just awkward, when you are used to a number keypad. I do a lot of calculations on my laptop, and not having one slowed me down. The idea with this kit was great, in theory. A mini mouse, numeric keypad, and other accessories, all in one package. The mouse works well, but the keypad leaves something to be desired. It is a soft, pliable material that doesn't respond easily to touch. If you don't hit it directly in the middle of the number, forget it. And it feels somewhat odd. And the foam in the case that is supposed to hold everything in place was coming apart when I recieved it. I will continue to use the mouse and the 4 port usb hub is nice, but I will keep looking for another keypad.
Read the review about the flimsy keypad and they were right on. My problem came about when I simply pulled out the modem line and it would not RE-wind! The keypad is nothing like the keys on a normal/regular keyboard folks. I ended up returning the kit for a refund and decided to put the money towards a better keypad and much cooler looking mouse! Avoid wasting your time and money on this item.
the product is not good. reason being because when someone is looking to add an addition to their laptop they want the same hard keys. soft materials make it hard to enter into spreadsheets and basic data information. i returned the product same day and bought a separate mouse and keypad, that was similar to my laptop keys. my rating for this product is poor.
This product would have been excellent if the numerical key pad was not made of rubber. I tried to use it but keying in numbers was not easy and most of the time the number I pressed never showed up on the spread sheet. If the keypad had been like a normal external keypad, this would have been an excellent product for laptop users.
