WONDERFUL! My favorite kimchi ever! Pairs well with anything, especially rice!
When Walmart replaced Kings, their previous brand of kimchi, with this brand, I was somewhat disappointed since I liked Kings. However, I read the label, saw that it was vegan, and gave it a try. I found I liked it at least as much as Kings. It is somewhat spicier, but if you don't mind that, it tastes good.
This Kimchi is amazing ! Goes well in Ramen Soup Bowls .
This is delicious kimchi. For those who wonder why it says "vegan" - traditionally kimchi is made with anchovy in the sauce. Go to any Korean store and read the label. You cannot find kimchi that is vegan. Sometimes you can find a Japanese brand that is vegan, but still, that is rare. I loved this kimchi, the spicy variety is the only one I've tried, and it has just the right amount of spice for me.
the Walmarts in my city all switched to this brand and it is horrible. not only did I throw it away, I hoped to be able to at least use the plastic jar but no... even after washing it several times and leaving it in the sun, filling it with baking soda, and washing it again it still had the horrible smell. I love kimchi and I've enjoyed many different variations but this stuff is h o r r i b l e.
Not a usual brand that I buy. I seen it and told myself I would try it. It says spicy but I canât taste any spice! It is not hot! Also, it tastes bland compared to most other kimchi I have tried. It is too thick, almost paste like. There is no real liquid in the jar. Maybe I got a defective one? It tasted almost sour. The wrapping was still on it and it was not expired. I am used to actual spicy and strong flavored kimchi, this one was weak.
Super Unimpressed. I wish I remember the name of the brand you used to carry to compare - because this is NO comparison. I was shocked when I read the back, and it said it contained wheat. When I started eating it, the texture is all wrong. The flavour is fair, but the texture ruins it. Much too... what's the word... gravelly, almost. I've been eating Kimchi for years and have never taken a bite and been disappointed... until now. (Also: "vegan Napa cabbage"?? ...lol. All real Kimchi ... and cabbage, one would assume, IS vegan).
The worst attempt at kimchi possible. So many odd ingredients. Pear, carrots, wheat? This kimchi lacks any of that âfizzyâ mouthfeel, it is not fermented. The smell and first bite seem fine. After a few bites a very strange flavor seems to overtake everything. All this to achieve a vegan label? Blech Dear walmart, please bring back kings kimchi.
I grew up in a big city with a lot of Korean restaurants and grocery stores so Iâve had my fair share of kimchi. This my friends is not it. It lacks the spice, crunch and for some reason the liquid/juice kimchi should be fermenting in. Bitter aftertaste comes along with the dull âspiceâ that supposedly is there. I bought this since it was the only kimchi I could find in the city I now live in, without having to drive across town to the asian market. Never again.
I was in Korea, my son in law is from there. I love Kimchi. But whatever this is, it's AWFUL. THIS DOES IN NO WAY TASTE LIKE KIMCHI. King's Kimchi is the closest to homemade that I tasted in a jar. Homemade is always better. I have no idea what the raving is about on this brand. I bought me a jar, because I was craving for Kimchi. Boy, was I highly dissapointed...to the point I was very upset. I wanted some good Kimchi and couldn't wait to sink my teeth in some. And boom....I got this instead. Walmart you need to bring back KING'S KIMCHI.
