4 year old loves it since he has the castle. As a parent I like that there are some "bells and whistles" but leaves a lot of room for the child to do some old fashion imagination. Example: You hold the dragon by the handle and lift him up and down to fly. The wings move based and your moving the dragon, not some button that does all the work for you.
Got these for my Grandsons for Christmas - Just opened them today - they both absolutlely love them (their Dad (my Son) even stole them for a while playing!! :-) ) If your kids are into Imaginext and Dragons this is a Great one to get. Very happy with this purchase.
He asked for a dragon for Christmas and this has become his favorite toy. He loves it. It makes noise. The limbs move, the wings spread out and it is like a little robot. Great gift and I would highly recommend.
Very good toy that goes with the F P Castle at a good price on the Wal Mart web site.
I love the whole Imaginext Castle set! We've had the castle an Ogre for about a year now and it's durable for a very rough 4 year old and has so many features that we're still discovering things. The Dragon was pricey but I think worth it. Even while bringing it in, in a grocery bag; the castle started to recognize it and start shouting about a dragon! (which almost ruined the surprise since it's a Christmas present) but I thought it was wonderful that it literally took no time at all to recognize each other. The dragon itself seems just as durable as the castle which is a must! Love the whole set!
I thought it would be a bit heavy for my 2.5 year old grandson but he manages just fine. It roars, makes eating sounds and he can make it fly. He carries it around more like it's his pet. Occasionally he will role play and have it attack Thomas the Train, Barbie, little Imaginex Superheros and the occasional family member. We don't plan on indulging in the castle or other coordinating characters. Castle Dragon is a toy, with the right kind of imagination, just fine on it's own.
My three year old went crazy for the Ogre and Castle that go with this guy. We could never catch him on the shelf though, for he was always out of stock. We finally ordered him offline and needless to say, he was a huge hit. I personally think he was a much better choice than the Ogre. He is super cool though, the color is vibrant and if you have the castle, all the interaction together is pretty neat. My three year old plays with these toys daily still.
Site to store pickup-surprisingly no wait, box a little dinged but toy was good to go. Got this for my son for Christmas. Looks pretty cool and I'm sure he will enjoy it. Good price-cheaper than other stores (ie, Target, Kmart & Toys R Us) No complaints.
My six-year-old and three-year-old love this dragon. They have the Imaginext castle that it interacts with, so that makes a big difference in the value of this product for us. It can pick things up in its mouth and "eat" them, roar, flap its wings, and trigger the castle to make certain sound effects and knights' yells. It's not robotic; you hold it and press its trigger to do these things. It's pretty fun. The dragon is well made, large but very maneuverable. Good design. But with that said, this is about all that it does. My kids still love it after about two and a half weeks.
My son loved this dragon. It's a littke difficult for him to looks it by one hand and have the wing expand due to the weight of the toy, but he is more than happy to use it in different ways.
