With a range of up to 35 miles and freedom to communicate wirelessly, the T465 won't slow you down. The range in real-life conditions can be reduced from maximum range. 22 Channels each with 121 Privacy Codes. With 22 channels and 121 privacy codes, totaling 2,662 combinations, it is easy to find an available channel. Keep updated with real-time weather conditions by turning on the weather channel or initiating weather alerts. With these capabilities, you will always be prepared for the unexpected. When in danger, easily ask for help. Press the emergency alert button and the radio will transmit an alert siren followed by spoken or incidental sounds. This will allows others to know that you have an impending danger. Push-To-Talk (PTT) power boost allows you to extend the transmission range by increasing the transmitter power output. It also saves battery life when no power boost is necessary.

We got these to use here in the neighborhood for fast communication. They have worked out great for that. Simple to use, comes with rechargeable battery pack and are very durable. I'm also a HAM radio operator and can program a couple of the frequencies into one of my HAM handheld radios and still be able to hear and keep up with what is going on even if I'm running errands. I can't speak for the total distance but I do know they easily work a mile to mile and a half all throughout the neighborhood. Great to have around and a too of the line brand.
Order was right on the money

Advertised to have a 35 mile range, you must understand that this is quite optimistic. It might be true from the top of a mountain to the flatlands, but any intervening structure will seriously degrade the useful range. Across suburban terrain which is quite flat but heavily forested and clustered with homes and electrical lines, we find the effective range to be about a mile. Nice units for use in closer quarters, but not 35 miles. Well made and have a quality feel. If you are over 60, get a magnifying glass to read the instructions!
