I haven't had much of a chance to use this but as a singer/songwriter I am very excited to learn how to use it. I'm going to have to ask my techhy drummer to help me figure some of it out but I have always had more music in my head than I knew how to express so I know this thing is going to help me do just that!
This was a gift for my husband to learn to play and read notes. He plays guitar and wanted to learn the keyboard and this is a great compact size for that purpose. He loves it and it's a lot better than getting a full-sized keyboard just to learn the basics. I recommend it for young students who can't have a full-sized keyboard, or for learning/practice. The built-in timing and background make it easy to keep the tempo. He is thrilled with the sound and playability.
I was so excited to receive this little keyboard. I felt like a little kid at Christmas when I pressed the first key and sound came out! :D Then I pressed some other buttons and it made drum sounds! What!?! So cool! I have never played an instrument before, except for the clarinet when I was in grade school. So this is a new experience for me. I think this is a great little unit for someone like me that wants to learn to play music. It is not a huge financial investment and it is super compact 12.5 x 7”, so it doesn't take up a lot of space. It's small enough to travel with and is fairly lightweight. There is so much to learn and do on this little keyboard. There are various settings for various sounds such as, Rock Organ, Church Organ, Accordion, Trumpet and the list goes on and on. Too many to list! This should provide hours and hours of fun! I do think the volume could be louder, but perhaps there is a way to hook it up to an external speaker for those who wish to. I also wish it had an outlet plug as opposed to a usb and the cord could be a bit longer as it is only 37” long. Other than that, I highly recommend it.
I am so happy with this midi controller. I am a musician but I only recently started composing music with FL Studio. This is my first midi controller and I love it. It is so versatile. I can use it by itself because it has a speaker and battery, or plug it into my computer. I love the variety of instruments it has in its memory. This helps me to imagine while I am composing how the specific instrument would sound. The sounds of the instruments are not “stunning” but they are perfect to serve me as guidance in my creating process. There are knobs helping to tweak the sounds even further, like reverb, filter, chorus, and resonance. The joystick knob is great for creating vibrato when imitating electric guitar or violin. Don't get discouraged by only two octaves. You can switch octaves with the buttons even during playing. It takes a little practice but it works for me. This midi controller is light and compact. It fits in my backpack along with the laptop. I can make music with it anywhere, even in the woods if I wanted to. The operating system is easy to understand and works like a charm with FL Studio. If you are trying to decide between Akai Mini Play and Akai Mini MK3 I recommend Mini Play. In my opinion, it is worth an extra $40 because of the speaker, battery, and 128 instrument sounds. There are so many great features. Pressure-sensitive keys and drum pads, arpeggiator, a favorites section, and more. It is just too many to describe them all. You can find great and detailed reviews of this product on Youtube. If you don't feel like doing the research ahead of time, buy it and try it. I don't think you will be returning this little treasure!
This AKAI Professional MPK many play mini controller keyboard with speakers is absolutely so much fun - it is awesome!! It is extremely well made and all the buttons and knobs are solid. Not junkie plastic. It has survived two teenagers and a 9-year-old while they created their songs! It has a lot of settings and a whole lot of sounds you can choose from. The virtual instruments sounds are great, with over 100 plus drum and instrument sounds to choose from. With real drum pads for durable performance. I didn't realize my kids were so creative with music and one did actually create his own song very easily. It is a great compact size, and very easy to move from room to room, so they could all share the piano. Also, it doesn't take up that much space when it comes time to storing it. The best part for me is by far the headphone jack! It was so great that they could pop in their headphones and create their music while I could enjoy peace and quiet. They also like that you can use the cord for power, or you could unplug it and utilize the battery power instead. I highly recommend this mpk mini play piano. This is a seriously professional piece of equipment with so many options to help you create music easily. I would definitely buy again!
Wow 👌 the keyboard is lit... equipment and software were very easy to set up. The built in microphone is a great improvement from past versions.. I love the choice of either using the built in speakers or just using headphones to create my beats.. you can even take this keyboard on the road since it can use either USB charger or (4) AA Batteries.
Wow this thing is awesome! First off I play a little guitar, not very good but okay, and have always wanted to mess with one of these! Right out of the box all you have to do is plug it into a USB power source and you can begin to make all kinds of music! Or try to at least. I found the drum kits to be very fun to play along to Rap and Electronic music. The keys section is fun too, I mainly enjoy the lower synth sounds. You can boost the volume of the Keys and Drums which is a nice little feature. The internal speaker isnt terribly loud but once you plug this little guy into a headphone jack you really can hear the noise! I have yet to hook it up to a computer and really mess with the electronic interfaces but I will get into that next. As for now its fun to hook up to my sound system in the garage and play along to some songs after work. I think this type of machine can be fun for anyone interested in music or with musical talent. I would love to see someone that knows how to play piano or play drums get on it and make some beats! Overall very impressed.
Fantastic little keyboard seems to be made well! Like that is has build in speaker, can be hooked up usb to computer to power keyboard or can buy batteries for it if you want to use it alone. Great to take on the go and can create music anywhere! Great gift for anyone wanting to create and burn their own music at a affordable price.
I am an amateur musician at best but I thought this would be fun to play around on and I was absolutely right. This little thing is a blast. I've only had it less than 2 weeks so I haven't learned everything it can do yet but what I have learned has been so much fun. There are so many different keyboard sounds and drum sounds and all kinds of sounds. I took a picture of the bird tweet keyboard as an example. For this price, if you have any musical inclination at all, this is a fun item to have. One thing I didn't like is that it does not have rechargeable batteries. I guess I've just become accustomed to newer electronics having rechargeable batteries but this takes 4 regular AA batteries.
This small keyboard is perfect for my creative MIDI's. The sound that comes out of this piece is amazing. It does require sharpened skills but in all, it is perfect , portable and by no means does it require a lot of space on my desk. My plans are complete thanks to this little keyboard
