I had bought two of these for my backyard. Have bad mosquito issues mainly from neighbors so I place two around the backyard. It takes about 15-20 minutes to be effective, so if you expect immediate results it will disappoint. after the 15 minutes no mosquito issues. I suggest you buy multiple units for a bigger yard. Works so much better than citronella candles.
The lamp had absolutely no effect on the mosquitoes. They buzzed about, flying around it, and it didn't even faze them. I wasted $20 (I also bought the refills) and the mosquitoes are probably even laughing at me.
lamp pad doesn't even get hot. or warm. old lamps with powerpads would smoke and you could see the product working. new lamps did nothing for me. waste of my money to try this product. will not be buying any more of off mosquito lamps or any product that off makes.
I live in Houston where there are mosquitoes year round, and I used the PowerPad lanterns religiously for years. They worked incredibly well at keeping the mosquitoes at bay. Even my five year old who is a virtual mosquito magnet was bite free when I used the PowerPad lantern. This new version is garbage! Mosquitoes were practically swarming us while sitting around the new mosquito lamp. We all ended up with bites, and had to move indoors just to avoid more. This product is a total waste of money! PLEASE bring back the PowerPad lantern!!!
I emailed about where to find the old Power Pads and was told it had been discontinued. They sent me coupons for 2 free Mosquito Lamps. I am so glad I didn't pay for this useless product. I had to laugh tonight when a mosquito landed on the lamp and then flew directly for my arm.
Didn't work at all! Mosquitoes were hanging out on the lamp it was so ineffective! Waste of money.
I've used the older version of these and they worked well. This new version was worthless. Didn't repel mosquitoes at all. This is an example of changing a product for the worse. I'm not sure if it's the active ingredient they have changed or the way the material is dispersed but they need to go back to the old style.
Like many others who posted reviews, the original lanterns worked great. We are having a dreadful experience in So Cal with a new, aggressive and ever-present Aedes mosquito. They bite all day long, can bite repeatedly and are sneaky - no buzzing sound. With little breeze and a sheltered back patio, we are using THREE lanterns within about 8 square feet. We light them about 10-15 minutes before going outside and are still being chomped mercilessly. I don't know if the issue is that the chemicals in this product are not effective on this particular type of mosquito, or if this is the same result as others have posted here - it just doesn't work at all. So here we are in So Cal and during bbq season, and can't enjoy the out of doors. This is depressing.
I have used the Off brand of Powerpads for years and they worked great. Then the company decided to come out with a new model well it does not work at all, Mosquito's just land on it or anyone sitting any where near it this was just a marketing plan New and improved more New and useless will have to start the search for something that works. Threw all the new ones in the trash what a waste of money stay away from this product. ( do not expect to see this review on the web site)
Used to buy the original lamp and the family member most attacked by mosquitoes never did get bit. Little did I know that the best mosquito repelling lamp would be discontinued.
