i've been loyal to virgin mobile for a while now and decided to upgrade from one of their more basic phones to an Android. i have NO regrets! it's amazingly fast, i get about 11 hours of battery life, (i charge it while i sleep, but it takes a full charge in only two hours or so) i keep hundreds of mp3's on my microSD, and the android market is fantastic. this phone replaced the iPod i was *going* to get and functions as both my long-life media player and phone.

My First Smartphone

I purchased the Samsung Intercept with the Virgin Mobile Network as my first smartphone after being on Verizon for 10+ years. The Intercept is amazing. I can't imagine going back to a regular phone. I'm definitely glad I got a smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. The only thing I've been disappointed with is that the Intercept will not run my bank's (ING Direct) Android App because of the screen resolution. But, that's the only app I've come across so far that does not work. The Virgin Mobile Network has been great too. And, with unlimited text and data (300 minutes of talk) for $25, I'm paying less now than I was for a regular plan and phone at Verizon.

This is the newest, most-current technology I have ever owned in any category. Price was reasonable. Service with Virgin Mobile is terrific...customer service has never been better or easier to deal with in any business relationship I have had. 3 thumbs up on service. Phones have no instructions, but I suppose this is the digital age. Not too hard to thumb through and figure out. Good stuff. Freezes up periodically and requires the batt out to reset. Not a huge issue. Charge lasts about 8 hours if you use nothing. Overall, very pleased.

Device is quite expensive, but that goes without saying for being with a non-contract provider. Device is easy to use, looks great, and has a brilliant display. One feature that I was hoping it had, which it does, is auto-orientation where the display changes with you when rotating the phone. Battery life is short as per many reviews I read, but it all depends on what you use the device for. Games are great on it - haven't played many though. I find the on-screen keyboard easier to use than the slide-out one, so I guess the slide out is just a bonus! Great Buy

Love This Phone

After reading some of the reviews for the Intercept, I feel that some people want a phone that does extraordinary things, please note that this phone will not fly you to the moon but does have all the tools and functions to get you through the day. I am always the type that does not buy something based on the reviews. First of all, I indeed love this phone, it does everything I need it to do, so it lags a little (and I mean a little) but that should be expected because nothing is perfect. I was just happy to be able to get an Android powered phone because of all the cool and interesting apps it has to offer. I try not to expect much from my phone as long as I can make a call and text on it. I am also head over heels crazy about the plans Virgin Mobile has to offer and it is without contract...what more can you ask for.

This is a very good phone for an entry level Android. Virgin Mobile has excellent customer support and helped me get through upgrading my operating system to Android 2.2.2. Problems were with Google, not the phone or OS. I could not access the Android market, Google would not recognize my google account. I had to create a new one. Then, I had to download the apps for my Yahoo account from Yahoo. When I did, the Google contacts manager, without my knowledge or consent, snatched my Yahoo contacts and inserted them into the Google app! Not good, but other than the Google server issues, Virgin Mobile's service and support saved the day. The phone is a battery hog, but that's not a big deal really, the batteries are cheap and so are the chargers.

I have had no problems that some of users have complained of although I didn't download a huge amount of applications. Just using the few that I like and have had no problems with the phone. I also carry an extra charged battery with me but because I am not on the phone all day I haven't needed to use the extra battery yet.

A good STARTER full touch screen phone...

Reviewed in the USA on 2011-04-17T17:00:00

If you have never had a full touch screen phone with a slide out full QWERTY keyboard before, this is a good starter phone. Buyer beware though, this phone is charger dependent. Do not expect to be able to get more than about a day in between charges, and LESS, MUCH less than that if you use the phone even just to send a few texts and/or talk for a few minutes. I guess I am accustomed to getting DAYS in between charges from most phones so this is a real change to me. I have also noticed that the phone has "stuck" on one screen before so I had to do a soft reset (remove and replace battery) and I have not had to do that with many other phones before. The touch screen takes a bit of getting used to if you have not worked with one before but the action of it is pretty good. The android os is a good, user friendly format. The service, SPRINT, is spotty at best in RURAL areas or even in some smaller urban areas if the weather is bad. That being said, for the price, which was $30 under the price that Virgin Mobile's website listed this phone for, I think that it is a fair deal, especially considering the competition on the open market and the service and the rates through Virgin (starting at $25/ month for 300 any time minutes and UNLIMITED text/web) make this phone a viable choice. My advice would be to invest in a car charger (you get a home charger) that allows you to plug in a USB device. You will find that most useful. I will say that even though you have to charge often that it does seem to charge fairly quickly.

Virgin Mobile Best Phone So Far

I have had all of Virgin Mobile phones so called smart phones from the X-tc to the rumor touch! Now i have at the moment the best phone that virgin mobile has put out! The Intercept is da best prepaid phone with the Android O.S. and Wow! The virtual keyboard is extremly easy to use. If you are like me and hate downloading ringtones and paying outrages pricess, the android market place has app just for that reason. Load songs onto your phone thru your media libaray on your computer and then save that song as a ringtone. With that app you can cut and edit where you would like the song to start and finish to fit your liking. I say again you will not be dissappointed with this purchase. To let you know ahead of your purchase some of the live apps will not work unfortuntly with this phone but all the ones that matter and most popular do!
