It is great to see a child feel he can take pictures and then see them on the computer. Parents do not have to worry because children really cannot break it. He loves to put silly backgrounds on his pictures. I purchased a older model of the Vtech camera for my Granddaughter when she was 3 and it still works. She is no 11 years old.
We bought two of these cameras for two of our grandchildren (5 1/2 & 31/2 yrs old) and we did not have to spend any time teaching them how to use. Very easy to use and there are games on it.

My son was ecstatic when he got this present unwrapped! He can't seem to put it down! He's already figured out all the features the camera has. He's learning how to get the pictures in focus and is showing me how to delete the ones that are not as clear. I am really satisfied thus far and i know my son - 7 years old is as well. This is a great starter for your kids if they are excited to take out their own photos and follow what you do with your own camera.
I purchased this for my 5 and 6 year old children for Christmas. Both were really excited, and it seems like for the price range, its about average compared to other brands. It is VERY lightweight, and takes grainy pics, but has been dropped several times, and is working well. I purchased the girl's camera from another website for about the same price, but both have a strange noise- like a loose part- when you shake it. We have not tried downloading the pics onto a computer yet, and we didn't buy the memory card to hold more pics. I am disappointed that my 5 year old boy is able to remove one of the battery covers, and it reveals two of the four AA batteries needed to energize the camera. The batteries are located on the bottom of the two rubber grips on the ends. I also don't like it that the "video games" are loaded on the screen- simple games that kids can play. I don't allow video games for small children in our home, so I feel like I should have researched this camera further before purchasing two! All in all, it appears to be an average value, and now, these cameras are just more toys piled by the wayside after an exciting Christmas morning...
