I can't name names, but I own baselayers from two other competitors, as well as UA original style Coldgear. This keeps warmer than all others I own, without any bulk. It is superior to other UA Coldgear -- in my side-by-side comparison. When I wear this, I must go outside soon, or I will get too warm, even in a cool house. I also love the fit. The sleeves and body are long enough for me and I normally have to buy tall women's sizes. I am buying my second one today. I'm retired from the military, but am pleased that you make tactical gear in women's sizes.
I play travel softball and have tournaments every weekend. I wear this under my jersey all day to stay warm. it does its job very well and I remain comfortable wearing it. I recommend this to anyone who does physical activity outside. If you buy it,I hope you enjoy it like I do.
My husband gave me this top & bottoms for Christmas. Beats all my other cold weather gear hands down. I ride my horse 5 days a week in an unheated barn & arena. This top is close fitting w shape wear characteristics. I wear a medium in most clothes & this top is a perfect fit for me. It layers well under multiple layers (it's cold in Central NY!) w/o any bulk. The mock turtle neck is comfortable. Sleeves are long enough & the body of the top is nice & long to hip length. Doesn't ride up. This top & the coordinating bottoms are my daily go-to base layer when preparing to brave our frigid temps. Once dressed I have to leave the house quickly or risk overheating! Love UA clothing.
Love the fact that I live in Western New York and we got hit with 6 feet of snow. I was walking around in just my mock top and bottoms I bought, a pair of snow boots and a light weight rain coat and I was actually staying warm!! My nose was cold but that's another story. And with the tactical wear, my LT said I could wear it under my uniform!!!
This does everything it is suppose to. I work outside and the temp was -10 degrees. It is a great base layer and keeps me warmer than any of my other UA base layer gear. The longer length keeps it from riding up and becoming "untucked" from my base layer leggings which is a huge bonus for me!
I absolutely love this top. It keeps me warm on these colder winter runs and the length keeps it from riding up. The material is also soft and comfortable. I also bought the same type of top in the hoodie version and you will love that just as much.
I purchased this before a very cold 5K I was planning on running in it was 11 degrees and very windy. Once I got running this top kept me warm. While I was inside I didnt overheat either. I think this gear is for when you are active in the cold it didnt offer a lot of protection before I got moving but once I did I was very warm. It was just what I was looking for. Maybe I purchased the wrong size but it was too loose around the waist however it did fit through the sholders, arms and bust. Overall I was very happy with this tops performance.
The proportions are very odd--the sleeves are super baggy but the armpits are insanely tight. I'm 5'4" and weigh 110. I ordered my normal UA long sleeve size (small) and a size up (medium). I couldn't get the small on and the medium cut off circulation to my arms. If you have any muscles at all from doing pushups, pull ups or swimming, this shirt will not fit you. If you're slim with large biceps (but no back muscles), you might like it. The fabric itself is very comfortable, though. I just wish if UA was going to make "tactical" clothing it would be designed to the proportions of those who would wear it.
I work outdoors in Montana and I get cold pretty easy. From the looks of this product I thought it would be excellent under my uniform. Unfortunately it did not perform as expected. It only got down to the mid 30's and it felt like I was not wearing a base layer at all, I was freezing! Very disappointed.
I have ordered multiple tactical items and unfortunately they all had the same issue - awkward fit. For reference I am 5'6 and 150 lbs. The body of the shirt fit comfortably except the bottom of the shirt was tight. There is absolutely ZERO give in this type of compression wear. Also, the arms fit, but under the armpits was incredibly tight! It was too uncomfortable under the arms for me to try it out in the cold. I would recommend other UA compression items, but not the tactical series.
