I bought this for my husband to have after his back surgery. Our toilet is normal size so it's low and hard to get up and down when he's not very mobile. The extra height and the handles have made it much easier for him. It has been a life saver!
So helpful post hip replacement surgery.
First, your toilet will not make the cover of House and Garden with this thing, but I didn't care. I hurt my back and had terrible difficulty rising from the toilet due to the injury. I bought this riser to assist me in that effort, and it was perfect. Walmart got it to my home very quickly. It was easy to set up, and it certainly served it's purpose. Thank you Walmart!
I broke my ankle and needed to use crutches and a steel hair. I had no idea how hard it was getting in and off the toilet before then. This not only made my standard toilet taller but I was able to use the handles for extra leverage. It is an absolute gem. Don't know what I was doing before
I bought two of these after my husband had back surgery. He was advised no bending, lifting, twisting. Plus he was really weak. These were super easy to install (I had to do both of them). Just install the handles (no tools required. They click into place), put it on your toilet bowl and twist the dial in the front. It secures it and you are ready to go...literally! Pushing down on it, it's very sturdy. You can pull it up if you wanted but when you're sitting down or pushing up off it you're applying downward pressure. Cleans easily. Great product!
Easy to install, no need for old seat removal - just flip it up. My bowl was elongated. This 5 inch is perfect for 6 ft male, the grab bars are nice due to a stroke. If peeing siting, you will need to aim with your hand. Will not look perfect, BUT WORKS.
The elderly man I care for had a difficult time sitting down and getting up from the toilet in his bathroom. It's an old model that is very low to the floor. The raised seat certainly solves that problem. However, now his feet don't touch the floor when he is seated. That's not the fault of the riser seat of course. I have not used one of these seats before, but in advertizing pics models from different companies seem to look about the same. I would like a bigger opening so it would be easier to position himself
The picture shows the handles as attached to the toilet seat, perfect. The extra 5inches meansa step stool or numb and painful at anyplace that hangs over the edge. I will not be returning it because of that. Everything else is more than excellent.
It says it is for an elongated toliet bowl. It is and fits. However you never see the opening of the toilet in the advertisement, since it's for an elongated toilet one would "assume" the opening wold also be elongated. It is not, it's circular. Makes no since. Why fit an elongated bowl and not have an elongated opening.
The handle on the right side wobbles. The left side is secure. It is defective and not returnable due to Walmart Policy. I expected it to be secure to use following surgery. Not happy it cannot be replaced for a non-defective one.
