This game is really unique. The format is different; it's actually like a novel, except that instead of reading/turning the pages of a book, you're actually playing the story. Anyone who likes mysteries will like this game.
as soon as i started to play this game i knew i was not going to be disppointed.this game is great you play as a fired detective who is looking for his missing ex partner that he shot beause he betrayed him.all through the game you met new intresting characters and discover there sercets and you also discover the secret of room 215.but you dont have to do all this alone you join up with a street punk that you used to bust all the time that works there now,but he barely helps though.the real mystery though is the owner of hotel dusk
I really liked this game...it is a slow playing game..some parts did seem a little boring at time especially all the long conversations, but it was a really good game over all worth playing.
I heard about this game from a friend, and being a fan of Time Hollow and Trace Memory type games, I bought it. It's beyond what I was expecting! I would recommend this to any of my friends! Though, because of the language, i'd say better for ages 14+.
I absolutely LOVED this game! I am a married, 28 year old mother of two and I must say, this game is so awesome! Granted, I am a gamer, along with my husband, but this game is one I would play even if I weren't a gamer and didn't have any clue how to play video games. The controls on this game are phenomenal and the ingenius ways you have to figure out different clues keep you coming back to your DS for more! I would say this game is a MUST HAVE for anyone who has a DS! Although I do agree there is some language and adult content that isn't quite suitable for young children...so make sure you stay with the game rating before purchasing for your kids. To add, this game has such replay value that I am encouraging my husband to play (as I have already finished it) and I will in turn probably play it again myself once I am done with other current games in my possession. Trust me, this will be $20 of well spent money :)...ENJOY!!
I totally agree with the review that compared this game to the choose-your-ending books from the 80s. It was a fun game, but I was expecting more content. I got through it in less than a week, and I wanted MORE! It did move slowly in relation to other games, though. . . very much like reading a graphic novel which was fine by me. I personally enjoyed the grittiness of the artwork. I would definitely recommend this game, and would also recommend taking notes as to the task you were getting ready to do when you shut it down so you don't have to wander around trying to remember where you were going . . . (it's not like Zelda where you can ask the sorceress what you should do next :P).
This game is not for someone who needs constant action in their video games because most of the game is spent reading. It reminds me of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books I loved as a kid because what you choose to say and the questions you choose to act dictate how the game will go. You hold the DS like a book and use the stylus for everything. I love the mystery of the game, but it is frustrating at times when you are not sure what to do next. I am only in chapter three, and have had about seven hours of game play, so I am definitely getting my money's worth. This is not a game you can pick up and play for 15 minutes. Once you get involved in a story or part of a chapter, you can't really put it down, unless I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I recommend this for teens and up. The language is saucy at times, the plot revolves around a murder and other assorted crimes, and kids would just be bored because it is mostly reading.
Great game! The way you have to hold the DS in this game is just too cool. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a great mystery.
But is not great either. I like mysteries so I figured I could give this a try. Everything about the game is good except for the background graphics. I know they could have improved on it a little more than they did; the character designs are not that bad. Other than the graphics looking like the first doom, the game is.....ok. Guess its not my cup of tea.
I bought this game maybe a month or two ago and it kept me busy for a while, but it's a very slow game filled with interesting characters to talk to and question and a good story line, and an endless list of things that you have to do in order before you can progress in the game. Also, the graphics are pretty good. I was impressed when I first turned the game on, and that definitely kept me intertained. But, the game was a little hard for me and I found myself having to start the game over, and this game is an awfully long game to have to just restart. there is too much talking and too much repitition for that, so in the end I kind of gave up, got bored and through up my hands in disgust. All in all, it's a good game if you have the time and you know what you are doing. Otherwise, there are more simple games out there! And I am ready to find them! :)
