I never really had oily or acne prone skin until my senior year in college and freaked out and bought a bunch of different "oil controlling" powders. I bought everything from smashbox to clinique to neutrogena. It turns out that this powder actually worked the best for me! It blended nicely with my skin and makes it look flawless. Plus it has some pretty good staying power as well. The tone was perfect with my "pale as a ghost" face although I have a bit of an olive undertone. The best part is that it's only a dollar so you can buy different shades for different times of the year to match your skin to your degree of tan. I love this so much that I have three of them - one in my makeup tray, one in my purse, and one in my backpack, just in case I need a little touch up. It is honestly the one makeup product that I can't go a day without using.
After looking for a powder that matched my fair skin, I have finally found one! I use the powder with elf's studio complexion brush, which is good at blending it in. The powder is only cakey if you use a heavy hand or try to cover up blemishes without putting on concealer first. The powder really decreases shine and usually stays on until I get home from school. Sometimes I have to do a touch-up, but not often. I do not recommend this powder for people with dry skin. The coverage is light-medium. If you're looking for heavy coverage, look somewhere else. I am really satisfied with this product and I ordered several more in case I run out.
I used my studio powder brush to apply this powder and it went on flawless. For my skin tone (African american ) the honey color was great. For the amount you can't beat it with a stick. I will recommend this again and again.
I am African American, and I have to say it's hard to find good powder to control my t-zone shine and this ELF product does it perfectly. It's light enough to reapply but doesn't cake and blends quite well.
If you've been using another powder, you've been paying too much and missing out. My friend put me on to e.l.f. with this product. For fifteen years I bounced around semi-decent drugstore powders, always feeling that I was overpaying for junk. Now I sometimes wonder what I did before e.l.f. powder. I was paying several times the price for an inferior product. It's a versatile powder that you can use either with a light touch to make it quite sheer and natural-looking, or you can use a foundation and go heavy. I'm 29 and a goth. Sometimes I have to look like a professional grownup, sometimes I want to look like I'm made of porcelain. I can use this same powder for either effect. It has no shimmer; it's a perfect matte. I will say that it's a basic light powder. Don't expect to go jogging in August and have it stay flawless. It does absorb oil (in fact it looks even better a little while after you put it on), so if your face is a lipid factory like mine, you may have to keep blotting papers with you. (Luckily, e.l.f. also has excellent blotting papers for the same price.) Notice that it's a small compact that doesn't have a mirror. Now notice the price. They're cutting corners on the stuff you don't need, not on the quality of the makeup. I will weep - WEEP - if my amazingly priced e.l.f. powder ever disappears from store shelves.
I have been buying the elf powder for some time now. I cannot explain how amazing this powder is! I have some acne issues and with this powder it actually makes it better! It is the right color for me and it most definitely beats other high end powders. And trust me I LOVE the high end stuff too.
I bought this about a week ago and im so happy I did. When I first apply it completely makes my face so matte and adds coverage at the same time. I have combo-oily skin and it doesn't rub off at all. I use this with my e.l.f. studio complexion brush and could never get enough of it. If you are looking for an all over powder or a touch up powder you will fall in love with this! The best part of this is that its soo inexpensive! I will keep repurchasing elf products!
Im pretty fair but have a slight tan, so i bought light beige first, but even during summer i think it will be too dark for me to ever wear so i now use it as a conture color. I ended up buying 2 ivory ones this time and it matches perfectly to my skin color. *** "ivory" has a VERY yellow undertone though. if your fair and have any reddness in your face this color is perfect. my only compaint is the color selection. not enough fair complection colors. --ivory (looks like the color "light beige" shown on the website) --light beige (looks like the color of "spice" shown on the website)
I would most definitely recommend this is you have very oily skin & are looking for a quick touch-up during the day. Me personally, I have very dry skin and i don't normally need to set my liquid foundation. But the color match is spot on. I'm mixed and have a very olive skin tone so it can be hard to find something to match me. I bought this in the shade Honey & it is perfect. The only thing negative about this is that after i had opened it one time, the lid wont close & the overall quality of the packaging sucks. If you really want or need a pressed powder for a higher quality product i would recommend the ELF Studio pressed powder it has better packaging and is only $3.00. But i would say with this you get what you pay for and its only $1.00. Also it has a very weird powdery smell that filled up my sisters room with a nasty smell. BUT being a dollar it didn't quite bother me.
If one of the 4 colors match, I think this powder would be a good, effective product. It can go on a little powder-y though so you have to be careful. I don't envision this for people with acne-prone or oily skin - if you look at the ingredients list, you'll see that mineral oil is one of the top ingredients. My main gripe is the fact that the accompanying powder puff doesn't actually fit in the compact. I'd imagine you'd have to carry the compact and the puff together in a bigger container or bag. And another thing: this doesn't have a mirror. Not a big deal for me but I know a lot of women like to touch up on the go. Still, for the price, it's pretty good.
