I'm really happy with the product. My kids destroy everything but it might outlive their years left in my house. Assembly was a pain in the rear for one person. I've assembled nearly everything I've purchased in the last 30 years, so if the directions are halfway decent, no problem. These weren't bad but I wound up with two of the spice racks upside down, which at that point in the assembly couldn't be changed (I'll paint them but it is irritating). Biggest hassle was making sure the diagrams matched with respect to finished and unfinished wood. I can't see anyone assembling this in under two hours, took me about three.
Haven't been able to really put this in use yet since I'm having a hard time finding a trash can which will fit. It would have been nice if a trash can had been included with it.
I paid someone to assemble this and I bought extra wood glue like several comments suggested. I also invested in the rather expensive Rubbermaid trash can from TONZOF stock # RB2957. I did not have the paper towel holder installed on the back as I want this to be flush with the wall. I used the little cubbies on the back for foil and baggies. I have a teeny tiny kitchen and I was so sick of looking at my big, gaping, ugly trash can the moment I walked in. This bin makes my kitchen look so much clean and better organized. Now I've decided to wallpaper an accent wall just to show it off, ha!!!!
Don't be intimidated by all the pieces it can be done and its well made ladies. this looks so elegant but simple, I'm not a handy girl but i was able to put this together in about two - three hours. i took breaks in between. it's very sturdy and requires alot more glue then what's included. Just buy a big bottle and you'll be all set. I live in a small center city apartment and my kitchen is tiny, not only does this fit perfect for small spaces but it has alot of unseen storage, silverware, can goods, and of course who wants to stare at an ugly garbage can. I don't know why all the reviews make finding a garbage can seem so impossible , it's not. The instructions give you the measurements just goggle it and buy one that fits perfect online. great product all in all , if you know someone who wants to assemble it great, if not have a glass of wine listen to some music and finish it on your own, you'll love it.
Read And re-read the instructions and dry fit everything as you go along to see how it should fit before the glue!! Points - You should get another small bottle of wood glue. I don't remember where it said to use the glue, but since this is made of particle/pressboard material , I like to put a light seam of glue on all the edges, like those with the wood dowels, including a dab on the dowels and matching holes. I even put some on the cheap plastic drawer handle seams and screw holes. One of the screw holes was stripped and I could only tighten the handle up snug, so the glue will help hold the handles on also. You will run out of glue with the one in this product. Be careful when you are lineing up and pressing the 2 side pieces together with the wood dowels and dowel rods that are the back with the spice rack. When you have the board that will be the top of this Bin, which the drawers rest on, make sure the 3 holes are toward the back, toward the spice rack, like in the instruction picture. I didn't see specific instruction other than the picture, and still got it backwards and had to drill 3 holes myself to make it work. I went thru on 2. But the drawers, that are on top, hid them so it was not a problem that could be seen once it was put together. Particle/Press board will crack if you put too much pressure on weak spots such as where dowel holes are on the edges, be careful not to press or beat to hard. Tap things like the plastic front door stops and dowel pegs with a plastic/rubber mallet or wood block so as not to damage. The next is the section that the bottom of the garbage can slides into that is attached with the front tilt door. Make sure the white, finished side is up, to the inside just so it matches all white. That bottom board, that the garbage can will rest on, fits the other way without specific instructions. I don't know why Walmart doesn't specify, which garbage can they should sell, fits this?? The top butcher block could be sanded smoother and oiled with vegetable oil so as to not stain when in use. I glued the top edges and screw holes where this butcher block attaches aslo?
Overall a decent unit. Top was a bit warped so would not lay completely flat, and 2 of the 3 drawer sections were disconnected at the front end. Aside from those issues unit is pretty heavy and should hold up well. Took about 2 1/2 hours to assemble.
Most parts have wrong size and wrong shape so all the joints have gaps. Even the top board does not fit to body. Also, some edges are not straight.
The rods in the box do not fit properly and we have to return it - as heavy as it is - to our nearest Walmart store. I hope they take it back at the store. Very cheaply made. Would NEVER BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN.
Got so frustrated assembling this Product, threw it away when I got done!!! What a piece of garbage. I am not joking. Thank you.
Not a good value. Directions for assembly consists of pictures, not written directions. Mislabeled piece in first step caused confusion. Not enough glue as everyone says. Most of assembly is glue and dowels. Several hours of frustration putting it together. Almost finished and had to almost completely disassemble due to one piece facing wrong direction due to ambiguity of directions. Some damage to piece by dowel hole being drilled too deep and breaking through in assembly. Once finished, alignment of parts is very poor. Would not recommend.
