This cutter does a very nice job on paper that you need very straight lines on. It made a huge difference on a project I did that could have taken a lot longer. I am looking forward to trying it on fabric next. The lines on the plastic baker make lining almost anything up easy to do.
My rotary cutter and ruler arrived neatly and securely packaged. No broken or chipped pieces. It is not bulky or awkward although it is full sized l. It fits on my work desk comfortably. I have it used it for any clothing material but I have used it for arts and crafts Ana I must say that once you learn to use it correctly it's awesome! I am still learning but the rulers and sharp edges make using rulers and scissors ancient history. You get a flat, even, level surface with precision cutting and neat edges. This is definitely a keeper.
This rotary cutter is absolutely incredible I have a cricuit business and I use it often to cut my vinyl and it works really great it's a lot better than having to cut it with scissors I can actually get a precise even cut with this! Has built in ruler as well which is really great so I can easily measure stuffIt's actually as wide as my vinyl is so it works perfect I feel like it was made for this lol get you one!!! I definitely recommend this product!
The Fiskars Rotary Cutter and Ruler Combo is great for precision cutting. It's lightweight and can be moved easily. My husband uses it for his model airplane building craft, in particular to cut the wing covering material and to make stencils. It comes with instructions so it would be easy to use for a beginner.
This rotary cutter is great for beginners like myself. I am new to quilting, and cutting fabric with this Fiskars cutter is so much easier than with scissors or handheld rotary cutter. No more holding the rotary cutter in one hand and the ruler in the other; this cutter does it all with ease and precision and with little effort. You can cut your fabric at different angles, and while doing this, you move the cutter and not the fabric. The blade change is no-touch with Fiskars magnetic system. Overall, an awesome cutter, and a must have for any quilter. I own other tools made by Fiskars, have a high confidence in this brand, and highly recommend to anyone.
I could barely wait to use this. I do lots of crafting. I often have to cut different materials often to include vinyl, cloth, flock as well as paper. I have not run into any issue with the ability to cut any item thus far. The blade is sharp and it does appear it will have a long lifetime. I have cut different layers at once without any issues with all the edges remaining sharp and precise. The box includes instructions on how to replace the blade if necessary. The included grid helps me to ensure I have precise lines and measurements providing me the ability to not mess any of my crafts up. Since I've been using this, I was able to completely rely on it versus the cutting board I previously used. The board is rather large so ensure you have proper storage for it once done using. I find it easier not to store placing items on it so as not to bend or warp the board. I usually store it standing it up. The grid plate is made of acrylic and feels very sturdy and strong. The board doesn't move around on my work table while I'm using it. I'm use to placing the material on the top of my old cutting board, this one allows me place the cutting board on top of the material giving me more flexibility to make different cuts without moving the material. I wish this cutting board was available to me much sooner because of all the wasted and incorrect measurements I've made in the past.
My grandmother gave me a quilt when I was a little girl. I still have that quilt but being that I'm now close to what her age was then, it has seen it's days. I'm not a quilter but I am a seamstress. I had been looking for an easy way to cut evenly sized quarters to make my daughter a quilt and this Fiskars rotary cutter & ruler combo is perfect! You will either need a cutting mat or some type of solid surface underneath the fabric or other material you're going to cut. An ergonomic grip carriage slides back and forth in a channel. Place your material directly under the board and slide the carriage back and forth. The way it cuts is when you press down on the carriage, the blade extends slightly below the board to cut the material. The 45mm rotary blade cuts up to 8 layers of fabric. I cut up to five with no problem. The rail that the carriage slides back and forth on also prevents lint buildup. You simply wipe lint off. The board itself has bias lines, a 12 x 12 grid, both horizontally and vertically, and it is clear so you can easily see your material, whether it is light or dark. Easy 45mm blade change and there is a no touch blade change tool sold separately. Full lifetime warranty for as long as you own this product! There is a hole on the side of the board but I'm not sure what it's used for. Love it!
This cutter is amazing. I was preparing decorations for my son's wedding. I began using this rotary cutter to measure and cut the ribbon and fabric for mason jars. Each jar has three different materials around it, and this cutter made the task a breeze. The edges aligned beautifully upon gluing, and it couldn't have completely aligned without this cutter. It makes smooth, flawless cuts through a variety of materials. I haven't even tried it for quilting yet, but I can only imagine how great it will be. I'm a beginning quilter, and cutting straight pieces isn't yet part of my skill set. This cutter with make my next quilting project a breeze!
This is an amazing tool for quilters. You do need to put it on a sturdy surface and a cutting mat. It really makes the task of cutting fabric at a variety of angles much easier and precise too. If you've only used a handheld rotary and ruler, you'll LOVE this. It really makes the job easier. While you can use it on paper, it's really not made for that. It will dull the blade quickly. There are tools that are made specifically for paper that are better suited for the job. Also, if the blade does become dull the replacement blades are available and easy to put on. The only negative is that the lines on the ruler are too thick. You can't see it in the stock photo very well but the lines are outlined in white and that makes the cuts less precise. I still think it's a tool worth having if you're a quilter. I took a picture against dark wood so you can see the thickness of the guide lines.
This is a good cutter but not a great cutter. The things that we absolutely love or the clearly defined markings. Especially the angles. Those come in extremely handy. Every part of the measuring aspect and viewing Is excellent. The part that is not as good is the actual cutter. In my opinion the blade does not push down far enough so you end up having to push down extremely hard to make sure you cut all the way through something Period if the blade were maybe 2 mm larger it would be much more effective. That being said it is extremely safe because the blade does not come out very far. If you have small children or just only cut very thin fabric then this is a perfect cutter for you.
