Every tire is a trade off. No tire does everything well. This tire performed exceptionally well for the purpose. I have 75200 miles on my 04 HondaInsight and these are the original tires. I have never had a close call that Icould blame on the tires. I have never had a flat. These tires have helped me achieve overall fuel economy of 68MPG (combined city/highway) over the life of this car. I wouldnt dream of replacing them with anything else.
Probably the best tires I've owned! Excellent steering response enough to hang 4-wheel drifts comfortably. They stick to pavement like wet postage stamps and when you do push them too far they break away predictably and respond to steering inputvia the accelerator. Only complaint is poor winter and wet-weather traction andgirlfriend thinks they ride too rough. Honda made a good choice when they put these tires on the Prelude!
i want to give this tire a little defense even though i doubt youve read this many reviews. AWD tends to understeer, and when this car is stock it understeers bad. I added power so its up to 285, and that just made the understeer worse. The only thing this car needs is a rear sway bar. I put one in and it goes right where you want it to. As for winter driving, nothing is better than controlled drifting
These are the OEM tires for all first generation Honda Insights, and the ONLY tire suitable for use on these vehicles. Every year or two we go through the same nonsense - Out of Stock, Back Ordered, Discontinued, Not Discontinued, Special Order. Stop the nonsense and let us buy tires for our cars when we need them rather than driving around on bald tires in wintertime.
I have read many of the reviews on this tyre and have to agree with the general sentiment. Under no circumstance would I ever buy this tyre again. Looking at the tread tells you it isn't going to handle well in wet/snowy conditions but it was what came with the car when I bought it and hadn't had a chance to do some checking up. Now I understand that handling and grip is going to diminish in less than favorable conditions but my biggest gripe is tyre wear. After 29K miles I was about to the point of baldness... I have recently had my tyres changed to Yokohama Avid T4's after reading their reviews and hope to see much improved performance.
This is the second Subaru I've had that came with these tires, and as before, they are adequate at best. They were clearly chosen as a compromise -- good enough so as not to cripple the car's handling performance, but certainly not good enough to bring out its best. These tires offer little feedback as loss of grip approaches, making it difficult to drive there with confidence. Treadwar is also significant, but in the end that's not a bad thing, as it allows me to get other tires.
I have to admit I agree with most people who reviewed these tires. They were acceptable when the car was new (even though not great in the rain or snow) but they were progressivly becoming worse and worse with the mileage. Now they are even bad on dry pavement in the cold weather. For those who wrote that it depends more onthe skills than on the product I have to ask one thing - would you drive on slicks in the snow? And wait until you put some miles on the car. There is a reasonwhy tires I made in one way not another, and well, design and rubber does make a difference. In case of these tires I saddly have to say that Nissan made a very poor choice. Conclusion - after 34K I say enough is enough (even with sports skills they are no fun no more). What is next? After the research - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.
With only 5000 miles on them I was told the next rotation they will need to be replaced.. With no mileage warranty I'm out the cost of these tires.. Will never buy them again.
Tires lasted only 22,200 miles on a properly maintained 2015 Lexus IS250....cheap tires on a so called high end car....No warranty for premature wear from Lexus...Will be contacting Bridgestone corporate tomorrow to see what answers they will give me. In the mean time I would suggest buying another brand. BTW don't do business with Lexus of Pembroke Pines, Fl.
Bought tires in April 2018 - Now it's Nov 2018 and steel belts are already showing. That's Nuts!
