This stud finder is very accurate. It finds electric wires too .There are 9 LED lights that help to find the center of the studs . It doesn't come with batteries, uses 2 AAA . I've used other ones before that were hit or miss but this one works great .
This is extremely easy to use. Take it out of the package, put in two batteries, and you can find a stud within 30 seconds. It also will warn you if there's electricity behind the wall. As you move past a stud the lights will move along with it to show you right where it is. And even how wide it is. I included a picture with and without the electrical indicator.
This works exactly as described. I had a magnetic stud finder that could not detect the studs. I was originally going to purchase one similar to this one at Lowes. But my gut told me to check Walmart to see what they had. The HART version looks identical to the item I was going to buy at Lowes but it's $22 cheaper. I would highly recommend this item. I used it to put up a rack of hooks in our mud room and wanted to secure it to studs to handle as much weight as possible.
Over the years I have used a variety of stud finders with a variety of results. I really like this item as it seems to give a very accurate picture of the stud location. As you move it along the wall three sensors light up over the stud and as you continue to move the device it highlights the edges of the stud, wonderful. It also finds the presence of hot wires in the wall, however it does not give any detail as to where they are located only that they are present nearby.
The Hart Pro stud finder works great. I took it out of the packaging, installed two AAA batteries (NO included), and put it to work. Easily located a stud behind a sheet rock wall as well as the power line located beside it. The lights on this unit allow you to quickly locate studs, find the edges of studs, center the studs, and locate any power lines nearby. It would also find power lines not adjacent or near a stud if that was needed. The stud finder instructions indicate it will find those objects to a depth of 1.5". The included instructions could be a bit better with regard to removing the battery cover (the black piece with the word "HART") and batteries required, but all that is fairly intuitive so even I could figure it out quickly. The instructions do warn about being sure to hold the device by the handle area while in use. Doing otherwise can yield inaccurate results. This is a good product that should prove to be a real aid.
For years I used the trusty old single sensor stud finder in my tool box to find studs in professional and home jobs. I guessed at stud centers by moving the thing around on the wall with no detection of live electrical wiring. This multi-sensor stud finder would've saved a lot of time. It works great as advertised. This is the top model in a line of three Hart stud finders. Especially, if you often use a stud finder, the top model is well worth a few extra bucks for its time saving convenience and features. Love the full width object tracking – no guess work required as with my old stud finder. In my tests, it readily detected electrical wiring. Unlike my old stud finder, you don't have to start it on an empty wall space. It uses two AAA batteries which are not supplied. Most importantly for me, it works fine with NiMH rechargeables, which have a lower cell voltage than standard alkaline batteries. I've shifted away from disposable batteries.
The HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder is an amazing tool that will detect the center and edge of studs simultaneously. I have used a lot of stud finders in the past and to me, most of them are hit or miss. I'm just a homeowner with no professional training and hanging television, speaker, or large picture frames on the wall are quite challenging to me. I used to use a standard stud finder before and most of the time I always miss the stud or never get it centered. It was very frustrating to drill holes and find out that you missed part of the stud. There are too many times that I have to patch holes and create another drill hole close to it. When I received the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder, I was already skeptical about how well this stud finder work. There is an easy-to-read instruction printed at the back of the package that explains how the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder works. I believe my first impression was that this is just too good to be true. The first time I used the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder, I was amazed at how well it accurately detected studs. To my curiosity, I have to use a nail to test the accuracy and find out for myself. The HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder did exactly what it claimed – it detected the stud centered and accurately. One of the main features I love about the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder is the LED monitoring. I love how the LED lights notify you of the progress on how far or how close you are to a stud. Please note that the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder will detect wood or metal studs. The HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder uses (2) AAA batteries and they are easy to install. The HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder easily detects studs as well as live electrical wires. It is great that the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder warns you about live electrical wires behind the wall. One of the biggest fear of using the old standard stud finder is nailing or drilling on live electrical wire. Another feature from HART that I am very thankful for. Overall, I love the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder. This is probably the easiest stud finder you can find and use. You can replace your old magnetic stud finder or your downloaded stud finder apps for your phone. The HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder is the only stud finder you will need. I highly recommend to try and see for yourself how well the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder perform. I can guarantee this will be the only stud finder tool for life.
Where was this tool when I did my last home renovation project? It would have saved me a lot of headaches had it been in my tool box. For starters, you do not have to start with the finder hovering over a hollow wall. (This something that always bothered me with traditional stud finders - if you already knew where the studs were and were not, why would you need a stud finder?) Sliding the Hart Professional Stud Finder across the wall precisely locates studs and identifies that location by lighting up whichever LEDs are directly over a stud. The nine LEDs allow for the greatest accuracy. On top of that, there are two separate yellow LEDs that indicate the presence of electrical wiring. That feature alone makes this tool nearly indispensable for the home project toolkit. If I had that available to me when I was mounting my television on the wall, I would not have drilled into a wire running horizontally through the studs (what goofball would run a wire like that?). I lost a good drill and five years off my life in that incident. Overall this is an awesome tool that I would strongly recommend for every homeowner's tool kit.
Just add your two triple-A batteries and you're set. Whether to hang pictures or secure things to a wall or construction issue this tool/apparatus comes in so handy. It's quick. Easy to use. Fail safe device. Glad to have gotten this one made by Hart. When th lites go on to a certain level, steady you will know you're right where the the stud is and then you can get busy. The instructions provided are clear and easy to understand. Perfect item.
This is my review of the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder. I have recently gotten several items that are from Hart. For the most part they have been pretty good quality and performed as advertised. I got the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder and found it to be of the same quality and performance. When I picked up the Stud finder I noticed the size of the item and thought that it was much larger them some other finders that I had purchased in the past. The trend seemed to be that the finders were getting smaller, but the HART Professional 9 LED Stud Finder is pretty large in comparison. I guess what matters most is will it find the studs. The Hart has 9 sensors that give a pretty accurate location and the lights indicate the location of the edges of the stud. Another feature that is important is that it will also locate electrical wires. So the nine indicator lights help a lot with finding the edge of the studs. I was thinking that it would be a progressive lighting pattern, but it light three lights at a time to indicate the edge on either side of the stud and light the three in the middle to indicate the center of the stud. I would recommend this Stud Finder.
