Compared to my previous Epson Pro Cinema 9500UB projector, the 6050UB has improved detail, is brighter with beautiful vibrant colors. It also somehow improves upon the already phenomenal black levels of the 9500UB. You can see the size difference between the 2 projectors in the attached photo, taken when I was installing. This projector is by far the biggest improvement to my home theater that I have experienced.
First, I am not a videophile. I am just an average guy that was looking for the best value in a projector for my media room. This projector is awesome - the picture is fantastic and I cannot hear it. After reading and watching many reviews on various projectors in a similar price point, I finally settled on the Epson - based on features, price, and technology. I would highly recommend this projector.
I replace my Epson home cinema 4010 with this Epson Pro cinema 6050ub. The first thing I noticed when I set it up and turn it on was its brightness and vivid color, even brighter than the 4010. Its basically the same projector, except with a few notable upgrades to the 1,200,000.1 contrast ratio, HDR, and pixel shifting processor. Also this projector upgraded its HDMI ports to 2.0b and accept the full 18gbps 4k HDR10@60hz. I played a few 4k HDR10 content on this projector and I have to say it looks awesome and the image was vivid and bright. The black levels on certain movies looked great. its on the same level as my previous JVC projector. I think the 6050ub rivals true native 4k uhd projectors ive seen.
Just had this installed to replace my 10 year old Panasonic...wow...beautiful colors and clarity! Very excited to see football and other sports!
I have owned this great piece of engineering by Epson for over a month now. I did a lot of online research prior to buying this Epson 6050ub. I debated between Sony 295es, JVC and Epson 6050ub. Finally I decided to go with Epson. And I can say I am very happy with my decision. After having this for over a month I can say that Epson's proprietary 4K enhancement technology hands down beats any other projector in it's class. My Epson 6050 produces crisp clear sharp images, excellent blacks and it works great in my dark home theater although I am confident it would work in any room conditions. Dynamic iris is a great function to have along with lens memory. HDR content looks stunning and even the regular SDR looks absolutely delightful. The menu is very user friendly and so is the remote. I have watched several 4K movies already as well as few HD movies and I can definitely tell that even the regular HD content is upscaled to produce a stunning image on screen. I have a 120” screen and along with my Dolby Atmos it almost feels like I am in movie theater. Epson has really nailed down the art of manufacturing a 4K home cinema projector. Thank you Epson for this excellent projector.
I started with BenQ 2550a, 3550, HT5550, EPSON 5050UB then this projector. Pure Delight. Sharp, 4k and bright. The other projectors mentioned are good in their rights but I wanted an image that can rival a 4k TV. While the others have colorful images there is this veil, a sort of thin cloud hanging over the picture, not sharp at all is what I mean without the technical jargon. I wish though it had an optical sound output.
The 4K HDR picture I'm getting on my 103” screen is nothing short of amazing. My previous Projector was an Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 9500UB. I'm particularly sensitive to black levels, and this projector is about as good as I could possibly imagine. I compared the 6050UB to several higher priced projectors from other brands, but prefer the picture of the Epson. The color palette is denser with deeper/richer colors than other brands. My home theater room is completely dark, with no ambient light. I found the “Digital Cinema” color mode (ECO power consumption) to be my preferred setting, with some tweaks to get the best blacks. The important setting for me to get the best blacks was the “HDR10” setting. I found the “Brightness” setting controlled the overall black level, but the “HDR10” controlled the detail within the blacks. My “Brightness” setting is down 2 levels to 48. The “HDR10” setting is down 2 to levels to 6. The resulting picture, being fed a 4K movie from the Panasonic DP-UB820, is stunning.
imagine buying a six thousand dollar prjector when i can go to the movies over fifty times with that much
