Detailed product description

With the ability to transfer sewing pattern markings directly onto fabric, the Hello Hobby water-soluble marking pen with blue ink makes it easy to accurately mark your fabric and ensure your project turns out just right. Designed for use on washable fabrics, this pen is not recommended for use on dry-clean only fabrics. To achieve the best results, be sure to test the pen on a scrap piece of fabric first to ensure the marks come off satisfactorily. To remove the marks, simply use a damp cloth. It's important to mark the fabric as lightly as possible to make removal even easier. All marks should be removed prior to pressing or laundering to ensure that they don't become permanent. This water-soluble blue fabric marking pen is an essential tool for any sewing project that requires temporarily marking of the placements of closures, darts, pockets, appliqués, stitching lines and other design elements. It ensures precision and accuracy in your work while making it easy to remove markings once the project is complete.

Transfer pattern markings directly onto fabric for garments, quilts, and more More precise than a pin or a small snip, temporary markings won’t ruin fabric Mark the placement of closures, darts, pockets, appliqués, and stitching lines Remove marks with a damp cloth

I tested this marker on an old t-shirt to see how it works. It's a fine tip purple marker, it slides easy across the fabric so it doesn't catch and mess up your line, you can rinse it away with plain water** or your can wait for it to fade on its own. It says 48-72 hours for it to fade, mine took closer to the 72 before it was completely gone. It does disappear completely, you couldn't see it at all. **If you want to wash it off, the instructions say only use plain water because some chemicals in detergents can cause the ink to set, then it won't disappear. Also, don't use it on dry clean only fabrics.

Hello Hobby Disappearing Ink Marking Pen - Great!

What's not to love? This pen, I have the purple color, is for marking fabric for sewing. The marks will disappear after 48-72 hours. If you make a marking error, you can remove the marks with water (I use a wet paper towel). The ink can be affected by humidity or the nap of the fabric or other elements, but for the most-part, if you are working with washable, fairly smooth, and non-pink/red fabrics, the results will be great. This pen would also be useful for transferring patterns, tracing, pattern marking, quilting, embroidery, etc. It does have a very fine point but the color is strong. A great replacement for tailor's chalk. I would recommend it.

This marking pen is extremely helpful when you want to make a line on fabric that you don't want permanently there. I like that it has a fine point tip so you can easily use it with a ruler and get a good straight line. I shows up as purple ink but slowly fades away all on its own. I've used it on white fabric with no issues at all.

Good Quality Clothing Marking Pen!

I got this to mark some of my long sleeve shirts for alterations, when summer arrives. And I've already tested it out. The ink fades out over two to three days. Which is perfect for my dry cleaners that offers next day alterations. I've tried it on different fabrics and the only one it didn't do well on was heavy mesh fabric like some sweaters are made of. Everything else, it worked great on. I would recommend it highly because it gets the job done exactly as promised!

Good Visible Marks

This is so handy for marking cloth and other materials. Currently making pockets for a garment that had none. It really is easy to remove the mark with a wet cloth on most fabrics. Used it on a pink piece which didn't appear to work that way, but mark literally disappeared overnight. Was also able to leave a mark on metal which I was able to remove easily.

This pen had called my attention since the fist time I saw it and always said : I should had bought it because when I need it for something at school I didijt have it Finally I have it now and its a must if you have kids. They love to make draws and decorete tshirts. Always be sure the fabric you are using is washable in the washer. Dont use it in dry clean fabrics. I live in miami and it take like mm 60 hours to dissapear. The instructions says it takes from 48 to 72 hours to dissapear deppending of penetration and humidity] . I am always washing what my little one decorate [ again stay away from fabric you really Cant wash] and other suggestion is not iron the fabric where you have use this pen. What i like about this dissapearing ink pen is Make your imagination fly Its a must if you like to add and extra touch to shirts or projects ar school Its easy to remove. I am very happy with it. I am adding some photos of the tip so you can see you can use it easily and how the marks will look with that tip

This is a dark blue fabric marking pen. It states it is water soluble, however I marked a cotton dish towel and attempted to wash it off with water as the instructions state. It faded a bit but so far did not disappear. It did run on other parts of the towel when it was wet. It is a dark blue so can only be used on light fabrics as I don’t know how you would readily see it on dark fabrics. I would definitely test in a small inconspicuous spot before using on a bigger area.

Water-Soluble Fabric Pen

I used this pen on 100% Cotton fabric. I was transferring pattern markings (dart lines, button placement, etc). I marked the fabric just as I do with chalk. I must say, the markings were more precise and more visible. I used it on 100% cotton because cotton is washable (the instructions say do not use on dry-clean-only fabrics). I actually did test the pen on a scrap piece of the fabric that I would be using it on. When I washed it off with plain water the marks did completely disappear. The fabric had no red or pink color in it (the instructions discourage the use of the pen on red or pink fabrics). I used a very wet washcloth to strongly dab on the marks to soak them with plain water. The instructions say do not launder the pen marks with soap and do not iron them until the marks are completely removed. I am not sure that the precision and visibility of the marks are worth all of the extra trouble of removing them...

Just didn't measure up to expectations and usage.

I craft a lot. I sew, quilt, cross-stitch, embroider and so on. Using a new fabric marking pen I always test my fabrics before I use to make sure it goes on and removes with ease. For knit, I'd tread lightly, it did remove but with a bit of hassle. For a broadcloth or calico, it could be used but I wasn't pleased with the amount of work it took me to remove it, I'd be afraid the work I've done would be marred. For Aida cloth, absolute not as well as it would not come out. I tried two applications on each fabric, one just normal usage as I would feel with a fairly light touch. Second with a feather touch which I would feel wouldn't exactly be the norm for me when using a fabric pen. Rather bummed because this is the first of their line that I have been displeased with, overall great product line this one though is a pass for me.
