Incredibly satisfied with this Washer/Dryer combo unit. Because it can operate on 110V and doesn't require a vent, we were able to install it in our Master Closet... which is a MUCH more convenient location in our household than our existing washer/dryer setup. Now, we wash our clothes upstairs where all of our family bedrooms (and therefore laundry!) is located. We also really enjoy the fact that it holds many loads worth of detergent and fabric softener. I find that we often just throw in a load at night, set the washer on a time delay, and then wake up to a freshly washed/dryed load of clean laundry that's ready to put away wrinkle-free. Then there's the energy savings... I'm a bit of an engineering nerd, so I connected this unit to a Kill-A-Watt meter to monitor energy consumption. This unit uses only 20% of the electricity that our traditional washer/dryer set uses. By my math, that means it will save us $50/month in energy costs and pay for itself in only 3.5 years. That's what we call a no-brainer. :-)
100% best combo you could get. Based on researching other brands General Electrics combo seemed to be the best option in the market. After thorough use during my first month with two other roommates using my machine. Here's my pros and cons. Pros: - It gets a combo load done in the estimated time displayed on the machine. - cleaning out the lint trap is extremely easy, I just wish my roommates would make sure to clean it after every use, but I love that it's easy so it's not hard for me to make sure I'm taking care of it. - phone app lets me know when loads are done, how long they've been sitting after load is complete. And shows me how many times it's used throughout the week so I can have an eyes on feeling when I'm away from home. - traditional detergent, softener, and bleach trays. While also providing smart detergent and smart softener containers to help remove the need of filling with every use. - clothes always come out dry even with normally big loads. This was a huge concern but it does its job and does it well. I also love how there's an option to time dry instead of sensor dry. Although I've been fine using sensor dry in my experience. But love that's there's options. Cons: - although I really like that you can choose to wash and dry separately instead of doing a combo run. I've noticed doing this is actually when you are more likely to not have a fully dried load. I discovered this as I wanted to make sure I started a wash with my dryer sheet when I was able. However this is when you should be using custom dry times rather than the sensor. I only recommend sensor heating for when you wash and dry in the same cycle. - Although I have not had my device long enough to do this yet, I wish the machine came with some kind of hose, or custom drain pan. As researching how to and when to empty the water drain at the bottom of the machine, it's location makes it seem as if I will struggle to find a container that is low enough, and can hold enough to empty it out. But this isn't a big deal. Overall I highly recommend this washer and dryer combo. I bought this on Memorial Day, and was nervous, excited, and worrisome. But I feel so comfortable and happy with this purchase as I haven't experienced anything truly negative. I've had an amazing experience and have never felt so proud to be an owner of this device. Highly recommend if you are someone who's biggest weakness is laundry, as this has helped me enjoy the process more, and self improve on that flaw of mine.
Best purchase yet!! We love our GE one and done washer and dryer combo with a large family and having five kids the GE one done was a perfect option for our family!! As a busy mom on the go, I no longer have to worry about switching laundry and waking up to clothes left in the washer. With the GE wanted done running off of a standard outlet and needing no dryer vent we were able to purchase two units and never have to worry about being behind on laundry again!
We've had the combo machine for almost 7 months now. We do a lot of laundry, 2-3 loads a day. It performs exactly as advertised. The only issues we've experienced have all been user errors. ( took a bit to convince everyone that they have to separate towels into a separate load for optimal drying or not to over load it) I really like that you just fill the detergent and softener dispensers and the right amounts are automatically added to every load. The app is also a great feature to know when the cycle has finished and not having to run down to the basement to check constantly. Some people don't like that clothes feel slightly damp at the end of the cycle but a quick shake and they are completely dry. If it truly bothers you then you can set it to more dry. I really love the machine and would definitely purchase it again.
Well the machine walks across the floor on the violent spin out causing the machine to punch a place in the back wall of my apartment. Even though we adjusted the legs for two hours according to the usage book that came with it. Plus it was delivered with hudge dent on top right.
Summary This machine is not ready for prime time. I expect to see a class action lawsuit on account of design flaws that arguably cannot be rectified without a major redesign of the lint filtering system (read on for details). Supposedly, GE spent 7-years on designing this machine. I question whether they actually used it as a normal owner would, with a variety of clothing that includes cotton, polyester, nylon, linen, etc. If they had, then surely they would have encountered this issue. It is negligent, if not criminal, to sell this expensive machine knowing that it has a fatal flaw. THE GOOD We have a love-hate relationship with this machine. When it works, it does exactly what they claim. A full wash-dry cycle takes anywhere from 90 - 120 minutes. Using the extra dry setting eliminates any dampness. The convenience and space saving is fantastic. The simplicity of operation makes it a joy to use. It does a fantastic job of cleaning and clothes always come out dry. The anti-wrinkle care actually works. There is a lot to like about this machine... when it works. THE BAD * First machine arrived with a dead heat exchanger. From what everyone says, this was an anomaly. Most machines don't have this issue. * Fault Code 353 (clogged heat exchanger). This is the bane of an otherwise excellent machine. It took only four months to encounter this fault code the first time. The service technician cleaned it and called it good. Now, less than two months later we encounter the same fault code again, so it's back to the laundromat while our expensive washing system sits useless waiting on service call #2. Root cause is a poorly designed lint filter system. How bad is this design? Let me count the ways. 1. It lets lint through, which sooner or later will clog the heat exchanger. 2. The filter is deep, short, and quite narrow. The air path where it fits into requires periodic cleaning. However, it is nearly impossible to perform an effective cleaning because it is so narrow and deep. There is ample room in the machine to have made a good sized box-style filter with easy access, but they chose the cheaper, less effective, less serviceable route. 3. There is a chamber at the back of the filter channel where lint can collect and sneaks around the filter. It is nearly impossible clean way back there. 4. The filter has no gasket, which is another reason lint gets through. 5. The filter appears inadequate to capture all lint, so even if it were perfectly sealed it looks like eventually the heat exchanger will clog, it is only a matter of time. 6. The filter has a flimsy foam pre-filter that must be washed periodically (I debate if that can really get all the lint out). It is replaceable and obviously will not last. 7. The heat exchanger cannot be cleaned by mere mortals. One must disassemble a big chunk of the machine to get to the other side of the heat exchanger. I question whether it can actually be fully cleaned once it has clogged, as the radiating surfaces are tightly knit (tiny air paths). If they are going to use a heat exchanger that must remain free of lint for many years, then they need an outstanding lint filter system that absolutely prevents this. In this regard, GE has utterly failed, and I see no retrofit that can resolve this issue given the current design. * The soap dispenser ran dry, but we did not get a warning indication. Maybe the sensor didn't get hooked up after the service call? Maybe it is broken? * The condensed water collection system has a drain at the bottom that must be emptied (infrequently). That's not a problem except that they placed it so low that unless you have the riser, there is insufficient room for a container to collect the water. Brilliant idea. Did they do this to sell more risers? We would have one except that would make the machine extend above the window (and create another difficult cleaning situation). * This machine is heavy, more so than a normal washer + dryer. It has a block of cement to keep it stable during spinning. Our old Maytag had a cleaver leveling system that was very light. Our previous Whirlpool didn't have a cement block either. Perhaps some day GE could design a system that doesn't need massive counterweights. Maybe they could get an ex Maytag engineer? Okay, this isn't really a super major issue except don't plan to move the machine to clean behind it.
HORRIBLE !! Clothes smell like chemicals or heat pump ! Leaves wet chunks of lint even after cleaning inside the lint catcher every time etc. Can't use dryer sheets because they would get wet while Washing cycle runs. Clothes do not get really clean and NEVER dry completely no matter HOW MANY times you run the dry cycle or add minutes!
BUYER BEWARE!! Please look up videos on the problem/design flaw that I am going to be sharing for a more in depth review. If you have this machine take a deep dive into the lint trap area (not the lint trap itself). I will add pictures of my experience soon as it will not let me add when maki g the post from my phone I initially liked this machine. Put a load a laundry in and have it washed and dried in one shot- seems to good to be true! It was! We purchased last year. Just recently the machine stopped drying our clothes. We could figure out why. Our machine was still getting hot when on the drying cycle so we realized it probably wasn't mechanical. We decided to look up if anyone else has had this problem where it stopped drying all of a sudden. We were shocked, devastated & horrified at the information we came across while researching this problem. I want to preface with- we followed the manual about cleaning and maintenance as suggested since we have had the machine. This machine has a design flaw with the lint trap area. We cleaned the lint trap every time we did a load and followed the prompts when they appeared on the machine. We were shocked when we actually looked into the narrow space behind the lint trap. There was SO MUCH LINT! So much lint accumulated in all the nooks and crevices of the lint trap area. Thankfully nothing serious happened like a fire (if it's possible with the ductless systems, I'm not sure). There is no way to maintain this machine without much work put into it and special tools or taking this machine apart and even after all that effort you cannot get all the lint out. The space it's so narrow and deep and with many nooks it would be impossible to clean thoroughly. We had to use a long grabber mechanism to get the big chunks out. My husband did the first round. He was positive he had gotten all of the big pieces out. My curiosity got to me later on in the day and I had a go at it and found almost just as much as he did! This is unacceptable GE. I got rid of my beloved speed queen workhorse washer for this. What a mistake!!! Do not buy.
GE software is non functional. The machine bricks itself with error messages to clean the filters. You cannot clear error messages after you clean the filter. The machine does not allow you to click select,ok, clear, cancel or anything to clear filter clean message. DO NOT BUY
I recently purchased the GE Ultrafast Combo appliance, enticed by its promise of efficiency and advanced features. However, in just a few months of ownership, my experience with this appliance has been far from satisfactory, marred by significant design flaws and frustrating malfunctions. First and foremost, the lint filter design of this appliance is utterly inadequate. Despite its purported ability to prevent lint and hair from accumulating on the condenser coil, it fails miserably in its task. I have found myself constantly battling with lint buildup, which not only compromises the efficiency of the appliance but also poses a potential fire hazard. It's baffling how such a fundamental aspect of the design could be so poorly executed. Additionally, my disappointment with the GE Ultrafast Combo escalated when the heat pump completely stopped functioning following a software update. While software updates are intended to enhance performance and address any existing issues, in this case, it had the opposite effect. The heat pump ceased to function altogether, leaving me without a crucial component of the appliance. The lack of durability and reliability exhibited by this appliance is simply unacceptable, especially considering its premium price tag. As a consumer, I expect appliances to withstand regular usage and perform as advertised. Unfortunately, the GE Ultrafast Combo falls short on both fronts. In conclusion, I cannot recommend the GE Ultrafast Combo to anyone in good conscience. Its flawed design and propensity for malfunctions make it a poor investment. Until these issues are addressed and rectified by the manufacturer, potential buyers would be wise to steer clear of this appliance and explore alternative options.
