My son is a very tall little boy for an almost 2 year old and therefore we have had some difficulties getting our son to want to stay seated long enough for anything to happen. This is not the case with the froggy potty, it is big enough for bigger or taller children with no pinching of any legs or bum. This is key I think for most children. Our son has sat on this potty long enough to do his business many times now and there's been no problem if he happens to sit backwards on it and go either.
My husband and I have been trying to potty train our 2 (soon to be 3)year old son for the past year we went through 2 potty's before we came to this one, love the fact the guard is actually apart of the potty, no uncomfortable removable piece, then my son is 2 but the height and size of a near 4 yr old and this potty is the right size ,all the rest were to small. It only took a few days for him to take to this potty and with in 2 1/2 weeks he was potty trained!
We bought this for the downstairs bathroom, my daughter used it twice the first day. We have the First Years - Winnie the Pooh 3-in-1 Potty we are lucky if she sits on it for 2 minutes. We thought she wasn't ready until we we got this one. She will sit for 30 minutes and has a fit when you try to take her off. We are replacing Winnie for the frog.
We bought the froggy potty for our 19 month-old son and its amazing! He can't splash out which is a huge plus and he loves it. The only bad part is when we leave the bathroom where the potty is located he cries because he wants to play with his froggy pal!
I bought this for our secondary potty...but we use this one the most now. The splash guard is wonderful and it would take a very talented little boy to splash :) We have a Baby Bjorn and while it is a great seat he would splash on a regular basis and it makes him very self conscience therefore delaying his progress. The only downfall is that he spends alot of time talking to the froggie and pointing out the eyes and toes and mouth...but that is just my silly little boy!!
This is a GREAT little potty! My daughter loves it even though we haven't started the potty trainning yet. She just hangs out and sits on it. Think this is going to help make trainning easier. And the simple design will make clean up easier! I had a different potty with my 1st child so this time I knew to look for a easier model.
This is the best potty u will ever find for a boy! My son is not yet 3 and does not like to use the big potty. We used this one at my in-laws and he loved it! I bought one today and he used it in the van before we even got it home!! It's a must have for anyone working on potty training! Your child will thank you. I promise!
Our son is too young to potty train yet but he enjoys playing with his potty chair. It has turned out to be a great learning tool, so far...we'll see how it works when it comes time to potty train. I can't honestly say I would or would not recommend it since he isn't of age to use it for what it is intended for.
This potty is hard to sit on. The child has to straddle it instead of just sitting down because the frogs eyes are in the way. Also, it's super light weight, so my son just carries it everywhere using it as toy. It's cute, price is great, but it's not the best for the beginner.
Unfortunately, the Froggy Potty does not work for our son (who is 19 months but tall for his age.) We have been using it for a couple weeks now and every time, it never fails, he ends up "springing a leak" on the outside of the potty. I have tried different approaches with him and the potty and nothing works. I'm saddened by this fact. The Froggy Potty is such a simple idea and seemed, (by all the reviews), such an inexpensive, wonderful potty. Oh well... I'm off to find a different potty. I wish they sold potties like they did when I was little. I've been using my potty from when I was younger in our second bathroom for him and he loves it and it works well! (Ya know the ones with a tray and it looks like your typical chair with the detachable deflector thingy... with the tray on, he doesn't mess with that!)
