We bought this for the top of the stairs. We also bought the universal mounting kit. Overall, it did exactly what we wanted. The only minor inputs would be: the mountaing kit assumes columns with out bases, therefore, we had to cut one side short so it would fit above the rectangular base; doing that caused the gate to be too high for the support thing which now dangled in mid air. All that said, even without the support leg down, the gate worked very well. Add to the fact that it's the only one found after a very long search, can't do better at all.
This works great! Fits my stairs and was pretty simple to install! Was exactly what I needed.
Easy for my 6 year old daughter to use which is so nice and seems very sturdy. We have gate at top of stairs with double banisters and 3 of our kids have rooms in basement so the gate see a lot of traffic and is holding up very well so far!
Very easy to assemble and install - took no time at all and the template/guide really simplifies it even more! We installed one at the top and one at the bottom of the stairs to protect our kids and also our Frenchie! Very satisfied and would recommend!
Gates installed fairly easily and work as shown. I like that you can swing them both ways to move them out of the way without un-installing after grandchildren leave.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is something I was looking for my baby to prevent accidents. I am glad I received this product. I received product in great packaging and in good condition. I think the manual instructions which came with it were not very clear. I had to refer online video to fix the gate. Also the gate is not adaptable to the baseboard from the latch side. I had to cut wood pieces and use them as a support in order to fix it. Overall I like the product as it serves the purpose of protecting baby from any staircase accidents. I like the look and color of the gate its really classy. Also I like the fact that its made of wood and not plastic.
We recently installed 2 gates over our stairways. Despite following the instructions and pre-drilling holes, several of the screwheads twisted off using nothing more than a screwdriver. Consequently, the broken screws were stuck in the walls. We had to call (and pay for) our handyman to remove the broken pieces, repair the damage, and reinstall the gates using better quality screws. What should have been a relatively easy install turned into a project spanning days, plus a trip to the hardware store. I hope the gate isn't as cheap and poorly made as the screws.
Design is good but build quality is garbage. 1 of the screws snapped when trying to install. Plating peeled off metal hardware. Gate is so warped it's hard to close. If I hadn't already drilled holes and mounted the brackets when I noticed all the issues, I'd have put it right back in the box and sent it back. Disappointing, given the experience we've had with other summer infant products.
Super disappointed that this baby gate came with such cheap screws. Both of them snapped right off and are now embedded into our banister. Really made me and my husband question the safety of this product all together.
Poor design, poor workmanship, came with bent/defective parts. Avoid and get a better one.
