I often find macaroni and potato salads that I buy at store delis to be a bit bitter. I bought a 1/2 pound from the service deli at WM after the clerk gave me a sample. It is delicious, and reasonably priced.
Love this item, wish we could get it in Tucson, AZ. We come back for three months in the summer time and I can't tell you how many we buy. Very good. Would there be a way to get this in AZ?
I'm pregnant, craving some macaroni salad. So I make my way up to the local Wal-Mart. Find my macaroni salad, enjoy a speedy self-checkout, and rendezvous to my car. I'm enjoying some macaroni salad, and I noticed this thick, translucent, jelly-like substance ALL OVER MY FOOD! I go and examine the rest of the container, and it's EVERYWHERE. I would like to know what this substance was, and why you're feeding it to your customers?! Awful!! Never purchasing again.
I used to really like this product. That changed when I bought it a few years ago and discovered a large clear glob of....something in it. It looked almost like petroleum jelly! This disgusted me so much that I quit buying it for a couple of years. I finally decided to try it again and had no bad experience for the first several times I bought it. However, once again I discovered a large petroleum jelly like glob in it! This time however it was much worse because I actually bit into it. Honestly, it made me vomit immediately. My suggestion is, if you buy this macaroni salad, be careful and check it through before you actually eat any of it! I will never buy it again.
Potatoes were not fully cooked. Too sweet. The salad in general was very pasty tasting like sweetened Elmer's glue.
The Amish Macaroni Salad that I purchased recently was absolutely horrible. The macaroni itself had a nice bite but the dressing was too runny and way too sweet to the point of being inedible. I hope that they readjust the recipe by using much less sugar.
It is clear to me WHY the Amish Macaroni Salad reviews are either great or very poor. The reason is because its quality is ENORMOUSLY inconsistent. The 1st time I purchased it, (the large 4 lb container) I judged it was the best I had ever eaten and would be a customer for life and told many people of how great it was. Then next time I purchased it, (same large 4 lbs container size) it had way way way way way way, etc. too much salad dressing it it. It was virtually uneatable and I had to toss out much of it. I spoke to some others who disliked it for the same reason. The product would be virtually perfect it this were consistent and put the correct mix of salad dressing it it, but either their mixing system allows for significant inconsistency. It is a same for a product with such high potential to be ruined by such inconsistency. I hope Walmart will rectify this, but I will not likely repurchase it. They lost what would have been a customer for life.
