These sandals have great traction. I was able to easily climb steep, rocky, sandy terrain in Kauai with them. Only negative is that they take awhile to dry in humid climates. But otherwise performed great.
Love these shoes. Durable, more supportive and comfortable than my Chaco's of which I have been a long time fan. However, as I've entered my 30s I found I need a more soft sole/support for my arches so that I don't damage my planter fascia. Merrell's are excellent for a similar shoe type/function with more forgiveness. Waterproof, can take a beating.
Breakwater Strap is the most durable waterproof sandal that I've ever owned. They were great on a beach adventure and also very comfortable for going out to dinner. The Vibram grip soles are exceptionally important for slippery surfaces.
Very comfy the minute I put them on! The only complaint is that the Velcro is a bit too long. I don't have narrow feet actually a bit wide feet but the Velcro hangs over too much.
I love these sandals. They are the perfect mix of a chaco and teva. They literally meet in the middle between the other two types. Arch support: less agressive than chaco but still there. Comfortable sole not very hard or will make your feet hurt. Comfortable straps that support the foot. My one complaint: I typically wear size 8, but the 8's were shockingly small so I ordered the 9's. The 9's are a touch too big so I have to tighten them all the way. The problem is, there is not a lot of velcro on the band so I don't have a way to secure all the extra tail so I may end up having to cut it. Otherwise I enjoy them.
These sandals run small and the strap on the back is painful. It is a velcro strap and I had to loosen it as much as possible to keep it from rubbing on my heel but then the sandals are kinda sloppy on my feet. Merrell please design sandals that are true to size like your hikers and also please use a less irritating material for sandal straps.
Love the look, but like walking on rocks, too smal
Very high quality, but I ended up returning them because the straps dug into my feet. The strap that goes across the pinky toe is angled so that the edge of the strap digs in to my pinky toe/the side of my foot.
Bad blisters with this sandal. The strap hits where the bone connects with the big toe. I can't seem to break these in. And now it's too late to return them, that window has passed.
The reviews all sounded so good so I ordered 2 pair, one for me and one for my boyfriend. We got them to wear hiking throughout California. Mine were uncomfortable from the start and i ended up wearing my boots the entire time. My boyfriends straps were different sizes and over time his started to bother him as well. The material is very sturdy, but rough, so we had blisters on the backs of our heels and by our pinky toes. It didn't matter how we adjusted them. I do love all my other Merrell products, these just weren't meant to be.
