I just returned from the Sawtooth Mountains where I hiked probably 20 or so miles in these shoes over the course of 3 days. The soul is stiff enough that you don't feel any individual rocks or roots on the trail yet comfortable enough that my feet just loved the ride! Definitely going to get another pair! Highly recommend!
I'm on my second pair of MQM Flex shoes so you know that I love them. I am in construction and wear them all day every day, they are comfortable and keep my feet dry on wet job sites. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a comfortable shoe that lasts.
My wife and I are longtime road runners and marathoners but recently switched to trails and longer distances. I picked these up for myself and got my wife the Siren Edge Q2. We have been very pleased thus far. We live in a very cold climate and they have stood the test on not only muddy trails, but snowy and frozen as well. I have searched high and low to find the heel toe drop on these and the Siren Q2 and cannot find it anywhere. Can you please provide me with that information? Thanks.
I was always 100% NIKE, but that has changed since I bought these Merrell shoes. They are all around the most comfortable and well made athletic / hiking / Gym shoe that I have purchased in the past 30 years. I am sold on Merrell and will continue to buy their products for me and my family going forward.
These shoes met all my criteria, especially with distinctive color (Old Gold) and looks. All my Merrell ‘s are consistently sized. When you hike around Aspen, this is a shoe that beats the trails and snags some looks and respect.
When Merrell asked me what type of shoe I was looking for, I described the MQM. Living in Canmore AB in the Canadian Rocky Mtns meant that most of my running was mountain running, and over time - my desire to explore led me to pursue FKT's along alpine routes. This meant that I'd trail run to get there, scramble some sections or all out free solo some bits to get to the trail run on the other side. Through this, I wanted one shoe to do it all. The MQM provides the protection I need for scrambling and descending, with a tacky outsole to stick to rock for stability and safety, and the cushion and flex that I'm accustomed to in a trail runner. I really love the tackiness of the rubber on this shoe. The only issue I've run into is some lateral flexion when I'm edging or on off-camber terrain but I'll take that for what this product has let me do in the mountains. As a Merrell Ambassador I'm able to use or test any product in their line and I can honestly say that when it comes time to play in the Mtns or rocky terrain - I'm only using the MQM.
I work overseas in primarily dry and sandy conditions. These have been a great shoe for daily wear in that environment. My only issue with them is that the sole has started separating from the bottom of the shoe after about six months of use (from the outside of the left shoe about where the little toe meets the ball of the foot if you are curious). I don't know...is six months about the predicted lifetime of a shoe like this? Overall, really like the shoe though.
I purchased these shoes because I have worn Merrell for years and have always loved the company and products. I work outside everyday and hike a lot. I decided to wear these to work Today and , I walk about eight miles a day. In mile two, the sole started slipping to the rear of the shoe. I had to spot multiple times to remove the sole and reset it back in the shoe properly. I'm really disappointed because I have never had this issue and have been wearing Merrells for years. Really hoping something can be done because I love Merrell and hope the quality doesn't start decreasing.
I ordered these after loving other Merrell shoe styles. I was looking forward to more of a running shoe style yet still a hiking shoe. I was very disappointed to find the arch felt very high and was too far forward. It was very uncomfortable and hurt my feet after trying them out just wearing them around the office for one day.
Went on a short hike today first time out with the shoes and by the time I came back that she would separated the soul from the shoe itself very disappointed in the build quality issues would recommend a different shoe next time. Will be going back to my la sportive. They were lighter and never had any issues with and lasted at least 2 yearswith each set.
