I have had this machine a few months and have made 8 quilts. One a king size behemoth. This machine is amazing. I have two other brothers, one is 25 years old. I really wanted something with a longer neck so I could quilt easier. I am so happy with my purchase. I love my brother machines. Free motion quilting is a breeze on this machine.
I am having a love affair with my PQ1500s. I have had my fair share of sewing machines and they were all nice machines, did the job, what more could I ask for. I can't say that about my PQ1500, I am so in love with that machine. It is like we are one when I use it. So, so easy to thread. Stitches and tension are always perfect. And it is so solid, when I sew on it I feel like it can handle anything I throw at it. And when I do free motion quilting, it looks like someone who knows what they are doing did the quilting. I have only had the guts to try FMQ since I got my machine last month. I am so proud of myself when I look at what I have done. This machine may only do 1 stitch, but that stitch is beautiful. I haven't used my fancy machine since I got the PQ1500s. And I don't want to either. I could sew on my 1500 forever. And this is the very first object in my life that I said if there was a fire I would run in and get it. I have never said that about anything.. That is how much I love this machine.
I just finished a 100 in sq. Quilt with no problems. I love my machine and havr a brothers project runway for special stitches
I've owned a brother embroidery machine for years. When it came to buying a straight stitch quilting machine I turned to brother again. I'm so glad I did. This machine is a work horse. So easy to set up and get sewing right away. I love the pin feed. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a low bobbin thread warning but maybe that's a good thing. This machine is totally mechanical and really simple. It's what I wanted in a quilting machine. A perfect companion to my little brother se400 machine.
After researching a number of machines, this one was the best choice. It will handle all my quilting needs. It is quiet, powerful and easy to use. It came completely ready to use right out of the box. It has made a difference in my sewing performance and I could not be happier.
Straight stitch machine is easy to use, sews through anything thick or thin...denim or chiffon . Great for general garment sewing as well as quilts, handbags... you name it.
This is really a great machine. A real powerhouse. It doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles but it does a fantastic job of keeping my seams straight when quilt piecing. It also sews through thick items. It took me a bit to figure out the threader. There are YouTube videos available to help with this though.
I had been wanting to free motion quilt, but I had not had the best results on my other Brother machine. The throat was to small. So when my husband told me to try this one, (poor guy heard me talk about it for weeks, he's my rock) I tried it. I had a quilt sandwich all ready to go, I did a few sample pieces and they were great so in goes the full/queen size quilt. It was amazing. I got a little to fast from time to time, but I was amazed at the ease. I used a heavy thread on top and bobbin, so I had to change bobbin frequently, (the only real complaint, getting to the bobbin, but by the time I was done with the quilt, I was an old had at it.) LOL You can see on the close up picture I did some thread writing. I was soooo happy with the ease of that too. I have finished another quilt as you go quilt also (the blue). I have 2 other tops done ready to quilt too. I am on a quilting frenzy.
I've been amazed at how fast it sews. I enjoy the adjustable feed dog positions and the quality. The needle threader isn't the best and the metal screw inside the tension dial broke off of my for no reason. Other than that, it's a dream to quilt and see with.
I love this machine, it's strong, powerful super fast. I wish that they would have put the older style needle threader and drop style bobbin. The needle threader is impossible to use especially if your ilder with bad eyes. The bobbin case is difficult to line up and insert because of the location. It would be SO amazing if this machine did a zigzag stitch. With 2 stitches, the straight and the zigzag it would put this machine into one of the best I've owned. Other than those 3 things I love it .
