So far this phone is amazing. No extra apps, runs amazingly fast, great battery, charges real fast. 100% recommend.
Have used many phones in the past but this is a phone which has what you need and does not have what you do not need.
Phone works very well. Great upgrade from the Pixel 3XL. I don't like how some of my apps would not work on the 3XL and then on this latest Android update my phone just froze that same night. Seems like a coincidence that it happened that same day and my phone was paid off a month prior. But for the Pixel 5 as of now works very well and all my apps are working fine. Let's see if I have issues with it when the Pixel 6 or 7 comes out. I hope they're not acting like the iPhones were with older models.
I really miss the no-button, no-unlock flashlight gesture of my old phone. I loved the smaller size. Battery life is fine. I don't enjoy needing a headphone adapter - I have very nice sound equipment. I didn't want to have to carry around the adapter r pay for several adapters for all my sound hookups. I find it turned out more annoying than I thought it would. Would you all get together and decide where the power vs volume buttons should be? Seems like I switch for every phone. I decided to stick with the new navigation gesture system, and I find it OK, but there should definitely be a way to make it chill temporarily when I use apps that require the left or side edges. My chief disappointment was the At a Glance - a HUGE widget that squats on the home screen. In addition to the Google search bar already glued to the bottom of the screen. I finally had to get another launcher. I appreciate thoughtful options, but there is no reason to make half my home screen choice for me.
The phone is great as far as software, but the build quality is lacking. One of my speakers is out. I have had the phone for 2 weeks, and that is how it came
I loved my Pixel 2 XL and there's virtually nothing different between these phones. This one is smaller and has 5G (that is debatable if exists) but other than that... Nothing special. I get the general sense that Google was just trying to meet a deadline.
I have had this phone for 6 days and I am leaning towards returning it before my 2 week window. It took 4 days to get it to connect to my work wifi network. When I called IT at work, they just sighed knowingly ( bad sign). The microphone is awful and I have to make international calls often. However, the worst thing is my Pandora App keeps crushing. For some reason, I can't use other apps while listening to YT Music! Oh it took multiple attempts over 2 days to connect all my devices to Bluetooth, whyyy? By far the easiest thing to do was Chrome casting( 1 attempt). Then, there are the general issues of learning how to navigate a new phone which I have figured out. Camera is ok. I have always had Samsung phones and I thought this would be an easy transition. Nope! Not even close. Do NOT get this phone.
Sound while trying to use it like a phone sucks. With the earpiece speaker behind the screen it's like a muffled speaker phone. You're better off just using it as a speaker phone. Not having a back arrow and just using gestures is terrible. They never work. If you just want a phone that works this is not it. I loved my Pixel 2. It seemed faster. This wants to do a lot of stuff in the background I wish it did not.
I'm returning this phone. So many functional issues that happen all the time, right after receiving the phone. Not worth the money. Extremely frustrated.-Randomly enters a half locked/unlocked state that won't allow me to access my phone for a minute or so, after I put in my passcode.-Poor touch sensitivity, screen doesn't detect my finger a significant amount of the time.-Google Assistant is unreliable.-Sends photos and videos in horrendous quality.-Faulty pixel that comes in and out in the middle of the screen. -A bunch of my messages apparently don't send even though they show as having gone through on my end. Same thing the other way (receiving). I've already looked into it with my service provider and it seems to be nothing on that end. Has only been an issue since getting this phone (previously had Google pixel 3)I had multiple issues with my Google Pixel 3 as well, but thought it was an issue with the specific device. Clearly, the problem is Google Pixel phones overall.
Nothing but issues.....cant bring up camera half the time. Always an update every two days!.....echoing in every call!!!! Just absolute garbage of a phone!!!!
