I received this product in exchange for my unbiased opinion. I've been shaving with the Philips Norelco Series 9000 Prestige shaver everyday for a week now and I am certain that this is the best shaver I've used in over 20+ years of using them. •Packaging As soon as I opened the box that it shipped in, I knew that this shaver was going to be special. The packaging is very nicely designed in a matte textured dark navy box and suggests premium quality. Inside the box, you're greeted with a congratulatory message which is a nice touch. •Ease of Use Coming from the previous model that this shaver replaces, I no trouble with it and started to shave to see how it does in the fast shaving mode. I believe that even for people who are new to the 9000 series, the features on the shaver will be self explanatory. There are 3 buttons on this shaver. A large Power button to turn the shaver on/off and Plus and Minus buttons to switch between the 3 different shaving modes (sensitive, normal, and fast). •First Impression This shaver looks and feels very premium with it's updated design and could even work as a prop in a sci-fi movie. It is also easier to hold and manuever compared to the older version. The charger included in the box is the same as all the recent Philips Norelco chargers so if you already have one, you can simply use that one and leave the new one in the larger and more useful carrying case that's included in the box in comparison to the previous model's carrying case that can only fit the shaver itself with no room for anything else. I wish Philips Norelco included some kind of wall mount for the shaver as that would make it even better for me. •Usage Day 1 I judge the quality of an electric shaver based on 3 criteria. Speed, closeness, and breakouts after shaving due to my sensitive skin. With the previous shaver, I found the normal mode worked best for me while the fast mode irritated the area next to my lips. As I mentioned above, I started to test the Philips Norelco Series 9000 Prestige shaver by immediately shaving in the fast mode. The shaver excelled in my 3 criteria. I got a very close shave that took no time and my skin felt no different than before shaving. The tagline “Philips Norelco's best - Ultimate closeness & skin comfort” wasn't just marketing fluff! No tingling or tenderness while giving me a shave compatible to a razor! Having said that, I decided to hold my judgement for skin breakouts until the next day. •Usage Day 2 I took a close look at my skin in the morning of the second day of using this new shaver and was sold! No breakouts anywhere even in the fast mode! This time, I wanted to try the sensitive mode by pressing on the minus button twice and turning it on. I cautiously started with the area next to my lips as that's the most troublesome for me. I could hear the motor running at a lower speed but the shaver had no trouble cutting down my thick facial hair. There was no hair pulling either that I would get once in a while with the previous model and the shaver head moves in all directions to allow closer shaving with each pass. The battery indicator feels the same as the previous model and equally as useful in knowing that the shaver won't die on me while shaving. •Overall Impression The Philips Norelco Series 9000 Prestige shaver is by far the best electric shaver that I've used in the past 20+ years of using them. I've shaved everyday for a week now and I am confident to say that this shaver will get you the closest shave with an electric shaver without your skin breaking out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would definitely recommend this particular shaver to anyone I know. Wet or dry, it gets the job done! It is by far the best electric shaver I've ever used and convenient charging as well.

Best shaver I've had from Phillips except 1 thing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 5 because it cuts well and I like the three speeds even though I run on high most of time. The 1 thing I consider a poor design is the head and cutters. There is way too much “dead space” on the outside edges making it hard to get into tight spaces like under your nose.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an unbelievable shaver. This is the best shaver and I've been shaving for 40 years it's so comfortable I'm thinking about buying even a back up there's no snag or pull razor blade like shave, leaving your skin, smooth and soft with an absolute close shave. The slow speed setting is genius to trim up around the mustache area so there's no snag or p

Best shave of all electric razors I have tried

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the most expensive razor which is a bit pricey, but the results are great. I have a beard that grows in several directions and the round blades take care of that in a single pass. Easy to clean and battery life is great. You'll never own another electric razor after you have used this one. You don't have to buy a new razor if the blades wear out...you just purchase a new set of replacement blades.

A great shaver: comfortable and close shave, long battery

This is a solid shaver that does a great job and is comfortable to use. So you're aware, I received this shaver as a demo to test out for this review. I've used this shaver now for about ten days, though the instructions say I should give it a full 3 weeks before really making any judgements. I'm ready, however, to make some initial judgements. For the first and last shaves, the growth was fairly long, long enough that my multi-blade razors have trouble, the Norelco OneBlade would get through with multiple multiple passes (but lots of pinching and hairs everywhere), and electric shavers like this would be okay with but typically require multiple passes as well. In all instances, whether with significant growth (for me) or just a day's stubble, this shaver handled it extremely well. I tried both shaving dry and with some cream. When dry, the shaver did take a couple passes when the hair was longer, but there was no tugging or pinching, and my skin did not get irritated (a huge plus for me compared to other razors). With some cream, it was also a very pleasant and close shave. The shaver came in a nice box (presentation and the unboxing experience has hit shavers!). Inside, was the shaver, a power cord, the beard trimmer/shaver attachment, a nice little zipping case to hold things, and the instruction booklet/warranty card. The shaver itself looks nice. It's light. It's easy to hold. It has a large display to indicate its battery charge and a few other things. When you pick up this shaver, the display lights up to show you the percentage left in the battery. When just doing a quick daily once over, it uses about 1-2% of the total. When I have done a longer shave, it has used as much as 6% of the battery. There seems to be plenty of charge to get you through a week or two of personal travel/work trip. The shaver has three speeds: the slowest is supposed to be the most comfortable (but take a bit longer to get everything) and the fastest perhaps a bit less comfortable/rougher on your skin (but a faster shave). I didn't really notice any real difference in results or comfort when the speeds were different, but I'll have to play around with that more...and perhaps it makes a bigger difference for people with more sensitive skin than me. The shaving head did a good job following the contours of my face. It is a more responsive and `flexible` than other electric shavers I've used. The marketing says that this shaving head has technologies to help it glide over the skin...I have no idea what that really means except that after multiple shaves, it gets the hairs and doesn`t irritate me. So no complaints here. Other than that, it has other icons on the display...one that tells you that the blades should be replaced, another if you try to turn it on while it's plugged in, another to remind you to clean it... Those are nice, but don't really add much value to me. I also can't really comment on how long the blade stays useable. The documentation says it should last a year. I'll update the review if it lasts that long (or if it doesn't) and the cost of the replacement. At some point, I'll also probably get lazy and not shave at all for a couple of weeks. I'll give the shaver a try on a week-long growth and the trimmer attachment on something longer and report back. I can say that the trimmer attachment looks much more substantial than the little pop up one on my other electric shaver. Overall, I'm happy with this shaver. It does everything it advertises. It's a very close shave that's comfortable whether I shave dry or wet. Know the exact percentage of battery is comforting as well. I guess the main question is, given the price of this thing, is whether it shaves that much better than many of the cheaper alternatives. I'm leaning towards yes, but if I found a sub-$100 shaver that feels and shaves as good as this one, I'd probably have to lower the rating a bit (on the performance versus cost aspect). I'll update if things change.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was reluctant to spend this much money on a razor, but I wanted to treat myself thinking i would return it if did not live up to the hype. It has definitely lived up to the hype. The best shave that i have ever had with an electric or a straight edge. It shaves so close that it took a couple of weeks for my skin to get used to it. I now shave only every two or three days as the shave is so close. If you can afford it, treat yourself. would give 5 stars if it was less expensive.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Working good. Shave wet with shaving gel. Not as close a shave as with razor. Spend more time shaving than with razor. After cleaning with Quick Clean Pod, white residue from shaving gel on interior surfaces of Shaver head. Overall, the Philips S9000 Shaver is doing a good job and I look forward to years of use.

Great Battery Life!

I received a free sample of the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige shaver to review, and I was really impressed by the battery life. The shaver display even tells you what percentage level the battery is always at. It is very easy to use, and heavier than most, giving it a more heavy duty feeling. Outwardly is is appealing with a heavy chrome colored plastic that helps with the illusion of being heavy duty. I can use this shaver many more times than my current shaver before having to recharge. However, I found I had to use the shaver for 2x as long as my current shaver due to the fact that the blades did not cut as clean as my current shaver. It also feels like a rougher shave and noticeable on first contact with my skin. I am curious to find out how long the blades last before needing to be replaced. I love this shaver and impressed by the battery life, but it could use better cutting blades for a smoother, faster shave.
