The result is a beautifully hand-crafted bass drum with a remarkably wide tonal range. All Saturn components on the SWB Series Bass Drums are finished with eight hand-rubbed coats of high gloss lacquer. This unique finishing process gives the drum a beautifully deep, high gloss, protective shine. The bass drum's non-penetrating double tom holder features multi-directional adjustment for precise set-up. The tom holder mechanism is also completely removable for players that prefer tom stands. The Saturn's non-penetrating I.T.S. telescopic bass drum spurs isolate the shell from additional holes and distribute the weight of the drum across existing lug mounts. All maple, lacquer finished bass drum hoops are secured by low-profile, cushioned bass drum claw hooks. Mapex's low mass lugs are secured to the shell via only one point of penetration. Fewer holes in the drum shell means less vibratory interruption, resulting in truer tone and unimpeded resonance.
