Amazing and super easy to setup!!

I have no regrets buying this product it was super easy and fast to setup, I added the light bulbs all over the house and they connected right away I was worried that the bulbs upstairs weren't going to connect well but I was wrong they connected right away and they work great. And also works amazingly with Apple homekit I can control all the light bulbs from all my Apple devices and Apple TV which is super awesome. I just love that I could be watching tv on my Apple TV and my phone is somewhere else charging so I get my my Apple remote I press and hold the microphone and command Siri to turn off all the lights or the specific light or lights that are on at the time it's great I'm so amazed with hue products I love it! And I recommend this product you'll definitely love and enjoy it as well.

Not As Good As 1st Gen Bridge

I've held onto my 1st Gen for quite a while, I was looking forward to all of those new features that I've been reading about for so long. But, when the day finally came, I was really let down. My main beef with Hue and their latest hub (as of 5/20/2020) is that the signal is weaker. This is a challenge for my house because the bulbs in my master bath cannot be reached by new bridge. To solve the problem, I had to relocate my new bridge. While this did solve the problem, it lays bare the design problems of this "new" bridge. The old one NEVER had ANY issue reaching all of the bulbs in my master bath or ANYwhere else in my house. So why did I buy it? Philips forced this purchase by dropping support for the 1st Gen bridge. I totally get it that the new bridge keeps things up-to-date on the security side, and I'm 110% for that! This was the chief reason for my purchase. What I DON'T get is why the signal has to be weaker when reaching rooms that are farther away. This is a step backwards... NOT FORWARDS!!! Other than this one issue, I would give 5 stars. Also, understand that I am the type of person that usually prefers to give praise where praise is due. However, this time is different. New should mean better, NOT worse. But I guess that's just me... :-(

Awesome, but does not scale!

When hue first came out, I got it and loved it. Over time I have swapped more and more bulbs for hue bulbs. For the most part, things have improved, but there are many issues. Since many reviews exist for smaller installations, I will focus on the larger scale where more than one bridge is needed. 1) You can connect up to 50 bulbs. My kitchen ceiling fan has 5 bulbs and there there are 8 spot lights around the perimeter and two light strips under my cabinets. That is 15 already! Getting past 50 may be easier than you think. All is not lost when you pass 50, but like gets much harder and less convenient. You add a second bridge and can get by, but at that point you are struggling. The Phillips app only works with one bridge at once, so you likely abandon that for regular control and switch to something like home kit. Home kit can work with all the lights at once, but is always out of sync with the Phillips app since it has only half the devices loaded at any one time. When it alerts you that things are out of sync, you best ignore it, otherwise it will remove the Home kit config for the rest of the rooms. 2) Bulbs change over time. If you have a light with multiple bulbs and one needs to be replaced, you will probably want to either replace them all, or replace one but with the same revision. The reason is that the colors are quite different between say a gen 1 and a gen 3. 3) Replacing a bulb may be much more complicated than you expect. You would think the app would have a facility to swap a bulb by now, but no. You have to register the bulb. Name the bulb. Add it to rooms, scenes, zones. And remove the old one. 4) You have to push a button on the bridge to hook up apps to it. This seems like a process from the dark ages to me and its not always convenient to go down to the basement, and then run back up to the computer room, only to realize I pressed the button on the wrong hub. And I have to do it all twice. I really do not want to go past 100 bulbs! 5) I ended up having to register two accounts as only one bridge can be associated with an account. I still love my Hue lights and have been patiently waiting for years for the kinks and qwerks to be figured out.

Some difficulty

I purchased this to place in an assisted living for my 98 year old mother in law. I hoped to be able to help control her lights from my residence 4 miles away. Because there are so many on the main WFi at the facility I cannot connect to Wi Fi. I decided to use it at my other residence but cannot access the bridge from other home. Any ideas? It works fine when I'm sitting in the same room with it.

Better Bridge… But Shouldn't Have Needed It

I've been a Hue user for quite a few years, with many hundreds invested, but I am no loner the happy customer I used to be. While the v2 bridge is a legitimate improvement, with noticeably better support for GE zigbee bulbs, Philips' decision to turn off support for v1 bridge users seems like a cold slap in the face from a company I once trusted. A big reason for spending a significant premium on Philips Hue years ago was environmental responsibility and lower energy bills. But now I am left with a prematurely obsolesced device that is most likely headed for the landfill. While I did appreciate the process put in place to upgrade the v1 bridge, copying all settings from it to the new v2 bridge, it still required the better part of a day to remove and re-create the devices and automations in the rest of the components in my smart home. This was not a minor inconvenience, and I am still tweaking things, all made necessary because Philips is too lazy to continue to support hardware they sold me 6 years ago. I get that this is the IOT, and there are no guarantees as to what products will evaporate over time. That is exactly why we spent the big bucks on Philips Hue… we trusted them. So, while we will continue to use our Hue gear going forward, I don't think we'll continue to invest in the system.

Nothing works right anymore

I have just over 40 hue lights in my home home and everything worked GREAT on the Hue Bridge v1. I decided to upgrade finally and transferred all my old color setting from v1 bridge to v2. At first all was good. Then light began to disappear and light scenes i had transferred slowly disappeared until they were ALL GONE Now i have to add new lights in by there setial number, even the ones that came with the new v2 bridge. When i create light scenes for.rooms only some of the lights will work with the scene and forget.about creating routines. As i used to have all my lights come on and off at certain times of the day. But once again with this new unreliable bridge, only a handful of lights will turn on in the morning and more than half are still on at night after everyone one goes to bed. If you have an old v1 bridge and are.considering upgrading....DONT.....wait till Philips Hue comes out with newer bridge, a v3 if you can, as i know support is winding down for the v1 bridge I have invested so much time and money into both the huse lights and this problem and I have had Hue lights now for almost ten years I think. As i started building my system around 2010 if i am correct due to health problems i needed a simple way to control lights un my home. however, now i am seriously considering switching to another brand if i can figure out these issues and as i still need another 20+ lights to finish my home
