I have the Rachio 3 weatherproof enclosure installed inside my garage, not outside. This is because I don't have a power outlet within the reach of the power adapter. I had to run about 20' of power cable from the wall outlet to the Rachio enclosure. This allowed the line voltage power connections to be made inside the power section of the enclosure. I am very happy as this made a professional looking and electrically safe installation.
The enclosure seems fine and actually matched the horizontal dimensions of my old Hunter unit, so the replacement installation went pretty smoothly. It looks durable enough, and I put a padlock on it for a little security against tampering. Will need to get through the winter months to know if the weather proofing is adequate.
I love that where ever i am I can save water right from my phone! In addition, Rachio has a built in weather features that saves water with rain skip and also saturation skip! So great.
I was told about Rachio sprinkler controllers years ago and finally took the plunge. Sincerely wish I had done it sooner! Being able to control the sprinklers from the phone makes adjusting/replacing sprinkler heads much easier than the old way of walking to the traditional controller and back multiple times and ending up soaked due to having to walk through the active sprinklers to get to it. A pleasant surprise that I wasn't expecting is the water savings through the app looking at the weather and suggesting skips and allowing me to agree/disagree to the decision. I like that I still feel like Rachio keeps me in control.
This enclosure works well. Custom fit for the right controller. Has enclosed power access and weathertight seal.
I didn't realize when I purchased the Rachio Irrigation Control System that it needed a weatherproof enclosure. Unfortunately, I realized that after the unit was installed, so it had to be uninstalled and re-installed. Other than that, seems to be working great.
Purchased the Rachio 3 controller as well as the wireless flow meter!! Outstanding results!! Super easy for installation!! Such a joy to be able to control watering days and zones at my disposal via the app!! Also, since I pay for city water, the flow meter keeps me posted on how much water is being used!! Thank you so much Rachio for such great products!! John..
I am a contractor and have installed quite a few of these controllers now and, I've been impressed. Customer's seem to love them, Customer's is good, never had a bad experience yet. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a good smart controller.
Over all nice unit. Surprised that the outlet inside wasn't a GFI protected one. I'm wired in directly to a circuit breaker. My old one was 10 years old and had a double GFI breaker. I'm not sure if this is a big deal but Rachio details on this enclosure is very limited. Hope this information is helpful.
This unit is missing the key elements: some silicon cable plugs for the massive cable holes in its base, and a seal around the door. The whole system needs a screen to show basic status rather than app for everything. We have gardeners who can't even tell what it's doing despite being "invited" in the app.
