I have not yet worn this boarding, but I wore the inner shell in chilly weather, and am so warm. I wore it around the house and my iguana seems to love it (see the picture)! It will definitely be warm enough in freezing temperatures. I was hesitant to spend this much money on a size small, since it's really hit or miss with sizing (usually a tight fit on shoulders and chest) but this one is a great fit, even with base layers.
I've never been dissatisfied with any Eddie Bauer purchases I've made in the past. And when there's been any issue. They've always been addressed and taken care of. Will continue to shop at Eddie Bauer's.
I am a tall 47 year old curvy woman. I have been looking to replace my 30 year old men's ski coat with something a bit more feminine and this looked perfect. I ordered it in my normal top size--Large Tall. This size in a top usually is a bit loose on me but in this jacket I felt it snug across my shoulders and in my hips. This was with just a light tshirt underneath so layering would be impossible. Plus if I were to actually ski, I would need more room to move. So I ordered in in a XL T and it was much better, but still not boxy. It seems extra warm and very well made so I will be excited to actually try it out come winter.
A very versatile warm coat or lightweight coat or lightweight jacket. Easy to convert from one to other style. Well-designed pockets; even has an attached cloth for cleaning glasses or ski goggles. Hood gives great protection to face. Material is awesome; the rain just beads up and runs off. The only thing that would make this coat any better is if the zipper would also zip up from the bottom so it wouldn't bunch up when you're sitting. If it had that, this would be absolutely perfect. Had to go up one size to get a good fit.
This jacket is for skiing in NH/VT so it needs to be very warm. It is windproof which really makes a difference. I have found it is even warmer if you zip the inside jacket separately from the outside jacket when it is really cold. I normally take a petite medium and I had to get a petite large. I would suggest ordering two sizes so you can compare. It may make a difference if you are using it for skiing so you have room for layers.
I ordered the jacket in a petite small, though had to reorder a petite medium as the jacket just fit in a small and did not leave much room for heavier layers. The medium petite fits perfectly with a base layer and a heavy wool sweater. The jacket seems to be very warm, though have not yet worn it in the winter when it is very cold, that is why the 4 stars, as I am unable to attest to the warmth of the jacket when the temperature dips to the 20s or below. I purchased the jacket for snowshoeing and seems that it will provide the warmth I need when snowshoeing in Yellowstone National Park this winter.
Needed a new, warmer ski jacket and this one fit the bill, but I just couldn't get over the color. I ordered the purple and looked like a giant eggplant in it. That McDonald's character Grimace came to mind. The combo of dark purple and reddish orange interior was OK, but I would've preferred them in reverse. You want bright colors for a ski jacket, and the dark teal was prettier, but why couldn't we have done some color blocking?? Just a little bit of contrast would be nice. Ultimately I decided to return since I knew I'd only wear it in daylight or while skiing, and never while walking the dog at night. It's just too dark. Instead I got the Women's MicroTherm 2.0 Storm Down Jacket (XLT) in Peacock (dark teal) and layered it under the Women's All-Mountain 2.0 Shell Jacket (XLT) in Wave (really pretty bright blue). They don't zip into each other like this 3-in-1 jacket does, and are more expensive in total, but they work well together and I vastly prefer the color combination. For size info, I am 6 ft. tall, 210 lbs., 38H chest, and usually wear a 14 in dresses, 12 in pants. I ordered both XL Tall and 2XL Tall, and was sorta between sizes. The 2XLT was loose in the waist and hips, and while the XLT fit better, it was fairly snug across the chest, so I wouldn't have been able to layer much under it. I'd say the sleeve and torso length was good, though I would've preferred it a bit longer in the torso. If you're curvy and between sizes, order both and see which you prefer.
I loved this jacket, the Peacock is a beautiful colour. However, I returned because there was no two-way zipper. I found the Jacket was a little longer on me and without one I will definitely rip the zipper.
I really like how this coat looks. I love 3-in-1 coats. And I love that Eddie Bauer has petite sizes. BUT, I'm very sad to report that I ordered TWO of these coats (returned the first one hoping it was defective and ordered another of the exact same) and both of them leaked an obscene amount of down. I've owned many down products and the occasional piece of down leaking out is inevitable. That's not what I'm talking about with this coat. I looked like I'd been killing birds! So, sadly, I returned the second coat, too. Again, it's a good looking shell. Good color. But there is something wrong with the inner down lining coat.
Eddie Bauer is my go-to for coats and has been for well over 30 years and up until now I have never been anything but thrilled with them. I tried this coat on and liked how it fit and felt, butI should have been warned when I found quite a bit of down on my clothing after I tried it on. I figured that was just a fluke however I have had it for a couple of months now and it turns out that I can't wear this to work, as when I take it off, my clothing looks like I've been wresting with a white cat (which I don't own, nor do I know anyone that does) - dozens and dozens of thin white/white&black plumules averaging close to 1 cm in length covering my top because the liner jacket is unable to contain the very fine pieces. Note the attached photo of my arm, taken ater skiing for the day. This is so very disappointing from a company who has always had fabulous quality coats (and this is at least the 4th or 5th EB down coat that I have had).
