Love our Blackstone built in griddle in our outdoor kitchen!
Absolutely love it - made our first breakfast for the grandkids in our newly built outdoor kitchen. Dinner is tonight using the same grill. Ya'll are missing something if you don't have one!
Easy installation
You better get the serial number before you install it
I grew up with cast iron cookware and so when I found out about the Blackstone griddle I was thrilled. I didn't like my old grill ant it as falling apart. The only problem is the location of the hole for the gas & electric lines. It should be in the back. I had to re-configure my cabinet to accommodate the hole and it took several days to finally get it installed.
Looks great but a short in the electrical that blows every plug in the kitchen- haven't even got to light it one time.
I built a full backyard kitchen and used this as drop in griddle. I ran into a couple of issues with it. The first was the jacket, there is over an 1/8th inch difference in the width between the bottom and the top of the jacket. This created a bit of an issue as I couldn't just 'Drop' the jacket into the slot I hade built. Took some modifications in order to get it fit and resulted in chipped edges of the countertop. I consider this my fault as I didn't measure the top and bottom and just assumed it was uniform. After making my changes the rest of the installation went great. My next issues have to do with running the griddle. First it is really hard to light, the 2 inner burners take forever to light. If I followed the directions and wait 5 minutes between lighting failures I would never be able to cook. Even the outer burners which light okay still take a lot of patients to get lit. Next, after I have all the burner going, it seems to take forever for the griddle to get up to temp. I have an old 4 burner 36" Nextgrill griddle that heats up way faster than this one. I have had great experience with other 36" Blackstone's, so I don't know if its this model or my unit itself, but for the price point of this thing I am disappointed. I will say though once my it is up and hot it is a dream to cook on.
Just installed for a previous customer in an existing island that is replacing their gas grill. Blackstone engineers 1) gas line in the rear of the unit if you plan on selling to replace existing grills 2) too deep for most islands 3) surface rust after three days on non stainless material. I'm a huge fan of blackstone and have owned 3 and convinced many to buy. Just wait for the redesign which they will do after they have a 50 percent return rate.
