fair price, good timely shipping, my original detector was still being produced / sold and Wal Mart had it.
This replaces the exact same one I had that was at "end of life." The old one lasted over 15 years. It does have a battery backup. The old one was sent to us from FEMA after a major ice storm which took our electricity out for a week. It is easy to set up, easy to read and understand.
I live in an RV and have had trouble with previous detectors. They have all cost a fortune and have been hard-wired into my RV. When they malfunction, there is only a couple of ways to turn them off...cut the wire, or beat them to death with a hammer. This detector plugs in to an electrical outlet, has a battery backup and you can't beat the price! I'm not sure about the durability rating, as I have only had the detector for a couple of weeks.
Very Pleased with the looks and Displays for a older person to have in their home. Excellent made and a very good Value. Meets all of my Expectation.
I researched this before I ordered it from Walmart and I found that other companies that had it their prices were much higher
Works well. Can't beat the price for peace of mind and your protection is priceless.
Thought the battery back up would last longer. Wish I had been told it was not meant for primary use. Other than that it works fine.
Sensors are functional which is the heart of the device, but the housing is made of cheep plastic and mgf outside the USA, which is NOT a plus for me. The door that exopses the batteries is a real piece of bad work. I expected more from First Alert. 1 to 10 rating with 10 being the best it gets a 5.
Only runs about two hours on battery before it starts to beep. Will not run without a good battery. You must remove the battery if you unplug the AC or it kills the battery. It should have been made without battery backup. It just causes problems.
Doesn't even work with the battery, only the electric outlet. Taking it back.
